Okay Im new to bass fishing...in fact new to fishing period, but looks like a found a new love. I have been out fishing a total 5 times. Each outing has been successful. I began last year sometime (spring or summer) and caught some good reds at brauniq and calaveras. Last October I went to lake travis for wedding anniversary and caught my 1st bass (bout a 4-5 lb) dunno. I didnt know to weigh or measure it (can post pic later). Anyway I caught the bass with a combo that was given to me at work as an anniversary gift. I learned to texas rig from a pamphlet that came with the combo...added a watermelon red zoom...learned to fish on sportskool.com from mike icanelli the night before and caught the dang thing on 3rd cast into a submerged stump.

So now I caught this bug...2 weeks back went to rebecca creek/cypress cove grabbed a crappie and my daughter caught a catfish of banks. I really wanted to head down river (no boat:()

This coming Sat Im going to Canyon Lake with my cousin. He is not much of a fisherman but has a boat:). I am eager to fish Jacobs Creek, or Cranes Mill area. I have been studying contour maps and have a few areas in mind...damn this bug. So far it has been fun learning about bass. I read many posts here before registering just to get an idea of this "bug" that has got me. Anyway for all that post and share insight...Thank You. It has helped me to accept my current condition....of loving....bass.

Looks like change of plans....cali lake. I want bass...not reds or cats...but fishing is fishing. Any good advice/hints/spots for this lake. I do like crappie though...good eats.

Fish the reeds and get back in them as far as you can.

welcome to the forum and the addiction only grows.

I've never been to the lake but this time of year shallow water is the way to go.

Good luck

should I consider wade fishing the reeds? What is a good location on the lake to do that?
