Is there any professional bass anglers here? Does anyone know how you become a pro at fishing? I'm 16, soon to own a boat, and love fishing and everything to do with it! I'm just curious how people go up into the big leagues; do you have to just keep stacking tournaments on your record, or something of that nature?
Second question is: Let's say you're not a good enough angler to go pro right, but you're up there on the charts.. How do people get sponsored by companies, not necessarily the big timers, but a little sponsorship would be nice to get some free stuff or discounts on tackle. Maybe even boats?
Once again, just curious.. Not having high expectations for myself.
Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

Okay, it was a serious question. Can I just get a straight forward answer?

For BASS you have to enter the opens and if you finish high enough on the end of year standings (top 5 + or - a few depending on year) you can qualify for the elite series events. At that point you just have to have enough money to pay your entry fees.

You pay to go pro.... How does that make any sense, how do you make a profit? Or do you?

You pay to go pro.... How does that make any sense, how do you make a profit? Or do you? Pretty much. The best 100 fishermen in the world are not fishing the elite series. The ones fishing are the best 100 that could afford the entry fees for the year. There are alot of local guys that could compete on the elites if given the time and money

I'm not planning to go pro by any means. Like I said, just curious. Planning to attend college, become a pharmacist, and fish until my time comes.
