I've heard this bit of advice before, but I dont think I do it much...... if I see waves blowing up into a shallow cove, especially one with brush around it, I assume thats a good place to be, and try to position the boat close enough to the end of the cove so that I can cast up into it, but lots of times this approach doesnt work.

It occurred to me that when I do this, I'm not fishing a "windblown point", instead, I'm fishing a "windblown cove".

Would I be better off finding a lake point that the wind is blowing ACROSS (ie right to left), not INTO (ie straight in)?

I'd appreciate any guidance yall offer.

Shane

usually fish a windblown point because you have various depths of water to fish. nothin wrong with fishin coves especially this time of year, the cats are moving in shallow to spawn in 2 to 1 ft of water and less.

I live with Fear everyday but sometimes she lets me go fishin

I prefer the points because the chum will pull the fish from the cove out to the point. If you just fish the coves, you may miss those on the points. To refine it even more, I fish the downwind or eddy side of the point usually although sometimes they are on the upwind side of the point.
If you anchor off the bow and fish from the back of the boat, it doesn't beat you to death so much.

Even better if you drift across the points.
