My friend just bought a '94 Pantera with a 200 Merc EFI. It had a 4- blade prop on it the day that he tried to run it. Everything was fine when he first took off until he trimmed up the motor and an ungodly amount of water came over the transom and onto the back deck. Every time he tries to trim up at full throttle the same thing happens. It's not just a little water either. It's like standing on the bridge at Splashwater Falls at Sixflags. Enough to sink the boat if he didn't trim back down. What in the world could cause that? Thanks for the pro insight.

Very strange! Would guess something causing the jack-plate to scoop water or motor height way off.

Need more information to help. How fast are you going when this happens? Where does the water come from? In front of the motor, behind the motor? How much are you trimming the motor up? Does the prop come out of the water?
Sounds like a strange problem for sure.

I'll get some more detailed info in a day or two. We're gonna have to run the boat again to make sure. Last time all I could do was duck and cover. It was freezing outside. Thanks for the help. I would like to see some pics as well. Does the jackplate extend past the bottom of the transom?

he must really be running that motor high and piercing the surface. Probably has the motor too high. he really needs to watch his water pressure, or hes gonna be visiting Tommy up at Rockwall Marine for a new powerhead

We're going to try to get out Saturday and give that new prop a spin. I'll take some pics and get some better details. Thanks for your replies fellas.

Definately sounds like some elevation issues. I googled 1994 Pantera Bass boats and they don't have much Transom height on them & a stepped transom as it is...
With the boat on the trailer and the motor all the way down in the running position, the cavitation plate should line up or be only slightly above the bottom of the hull. If your lined up and the jackplate is that high, something isn't right with your shaft length...
does NOT sound like a problem with the Prop.
