Ok so this is my first year really crappie fishing a lot. I am trying to figure out. Due to lack of a boat and with having a newborn me and the wife have been hanging out at the local fish house for all our fishing. Two weeks ago we were killing them, but the last three nights nothing. Was wondering if they leave the 15-30ft of water for the spawn and look for shallower waters or maybe just three bad nights. How have you guys been doing at night lately. Thnx for the info

You have it right about them moving to spawn. The warmer water has them going to shallow water. Try fishing shallow with a slip bobber.

We caught 20 keepers and untold number of smaller males in 4-6 ft of water near brush this weekend. Look a little shallower I think, but I am just learning myself.

The crappie have finally started to move shallow on Belton. Until this weekend we've been finding them in 15-25ft. But this weekend I didn't catch any crappie that deep. I was catching them (mostly males) in 5-8 ft of water in the coves near brush as ZackP said. Shallow water on Belton should be heatin up now.

Fished this morning and only managed 6 keepers in the shallow water, all males. They are definitely moving shallower than they have been.

Definitely a big push shallow today. On a guide outing today my clients caught over 80 crappie, with 28 keepers. 90% were males. The bite wasn't even slowing as we left. Unfortunately the front may knock them off again.

Caught them even shallower today. Fished this morning for ~ 2 hours and caught about a dozen keepers, including a nice 15 inch female. 2/3 of the fish were males and were caught in ~ 2 ft of water near brush in back of bays.

Alright ZackP. I caught 10 more keepers tonight in about an hour, including a couple of 15 inch females. All were in less than 3 feet of water. Gonna have a fish fry!!! banana
