Were heading out in the morning to try our luck again at conroe where we have been doing pretty good in about 10ft. For some reason we cant find many fish in the shallows yet its basically been just one here and one there. Anyone else notice this? Shouldnt they be in the shallows by now?? Not looking for spots from anyone just trying to get some input.

Those fish have been staging for about1 1/2 months;I've caught more White Crappie in Jan.than ever this year.Weird, usually the Black Crappie come in 1st.We've had a long winter, sometimes you gotta search for em'.Ive been doing pretty good in some canals close to some subdivisions.Been throwing Chart jigs at em'.There ARE fish in the shallows, you just gotta keep lookin'With the long winter, the bite should extend a month or so...Yippee

Nice slabs Dogrockit. I guess I'm just gonna have to do some searching in the creeks until we can get on some. Usualy this time of year I dont have problems getting into them in the shallows but its been tougher for me this year. Maybe we should try using jigs instead of minnows.

I fished from 6pm till about 9pm last night during all that east wind. Right at dusk I got my first bite and ended up catching 11 good keepers in about two foot of water.

Fishing was super slow for us on conroe saturday. Fished for them hard and covered alot of shore and could only find 10 keepers. Not sure what to think about the spawn. I think i'm with dogrockit those trout are calling my name.

We fished all over the lake to be honest. I have a few go to spots where we go and we always have very good success but the fish were not there or anywhere else we tried all we could do is pick up a fish here and there we never could find a good mess of them anywhere. I'm not sure where yall are fishing but I'm glad someone out there is catching them. We talked to prolly 8-10 boats out on the water saturday and not one boat had much luck. Even the boats we saw fishing no one was catching fish. We fished mostly the south end but hit up the north end for a bit also with no luck. Good luck to anyone who goes out. Let us know how you do.

Interesting.... Well, I'm going out there tonight to see what's up....

I never fish the north end of the lake for crappie... I've gotten stranded out there on the boat before, so my scary butt sticks around the South, by the marinas....

On that note, I haven't had ANY luck with jigs... Literally... Not a single bite.... They were all on small minnows.... Large minnows weren't working either....

I'll update after tonight....

eycOr... thats crazy you mention only catching them on small minnnows because we were actually upset when we got our bait and noticed most of the minnows were extremly small but we actually only got bites while fishing with the little ones also...What marinas do you fish?? I fish several of them alot as well on the south end
