A couple days ago a friend of mine went out to Marine Creek to run his boat and said TP&W had 3 boats out there and they were shocking/tagging fish.
Anyone know whats going on out there?

Yes, they shock and tag fish to check on the local habitat and make sure the fish are still healthy. Happens more than you think. They keep an eye on our lakes!

Bas Johnson is right, Whitney gets an electroshock survey every year. Theyre probably planing on stocking Marne Creek aand getting information to decide how much to stock it.

I found a link on TP&W one time that actually listed years and individual lakes that they performed the shocks on. They then listed the results of their finds. It was pretty cool but can't remember how to get back to it. It was nothing too specific.

think his name is Tom Hungerfield(casey knows his name).
THey are doing the survey on the sharelunker offspring. I made a comment a few months ago about it being a waste, and was contacted by TPWD about the survey. I am anxious to hear what they have found. I think the water quality suffers from the housing development near it. when they started building those houses years ago, the runoff from the lime-laden construction sites "seemed" to affect the water and the vegetation disappeared...

The Ski Club, that leases part of the lake...hurts the lake.In my mind, there the ones that killed out the coon tail and lilly pads.

i dont think they did it. there was vegetation for a long time while they were using the lake. they have just as much right on the lake as we do, and the majority of the ones I have met are nice as can be.. unlike other lakes.

you can still stick a PIG out there, just few and far between. My buddy said he talked to them and there were several in the 8-9lb range, lots in the 5-7lb aswell.
Like Ronnie and Lannie mentioned tho, with the new housing that was built around the lake it killed off the vegetation and there's very little cover.

there's brushpiles, roadbed, riprap, points.. some shoreline weed patches... thats about it on cover. brushpiles usually are covered in crappie, and the bass are too fat and full to eat our baits. dad had a monster follow up a crappie one day, to the boat. one of the big girls out there.

One of my old Anglers Choice partners quit bass fishing,he crappie fishs out there all the time with minnows,he catches quite a few 5 & 6 lb. bass on minnows.Theres good bass there just hard to find and catch. It was also one of the first lakes in Texas stocked with florida bass in the 70's.
