Caught 'em making out, took some pics.

I ended up just going back to the creek to the place where the spool came off, found the part right there. Also came across a pair of spawning bass, around 5lbs and 3lbs I estimate. They were not interested in any of my offerings at all, so I bellycrawled up to the water's edge, camera in hand. I have just purchased a waterproof camera, so I slipped it into the water to try to take a pic. This really agitated the female and she began charging me, coming to within about 12" of the camera. The flash seemed to attract her too. I realized the more commotion I made with my hand, the more irritated she got, and she'd approach and flare her gills. If my camera were a bit smaller she would have eaten it. I took around 50 pics, just blind shooting under the water, trying different settings, realizing that the refraction of the water was making me aim too high for a bit. Anyways, here's the best of the photos, she has an awesome beauty spot on her, so I'll recognize her if I catch her in the future.

If anyone is interested, the camera is a Casio EX-G1, waterproof, shockproof, 12 megapixel, got it on ebay for about $250 with 4GB microSD card, card reader, spare battery, carrying case and cheapy tripod. I've taken over 100 pics w/flash, and some video with constant lighting, and the battery meter hasn't moved, very nice.

Any chance that one of them had a dark patch on one the right side of its face? I was fishing in a hole on Brushy on Monday that had two bass that looked like they were thinking about possibly moving toward being close to the potential of spawning (it was very tentative and awkward...felt like I was watching a jr high kid give dating advice to a middle schooler). I made a cast at them, got it hung in a tree, snapped it of and the lure fell in the water. The smaller bass then swam over, looked at it on the bottom, ate it, chewed at least twice, spit it out and swam off. It would probably have been fun to watch...not as entertaining to me.

I have caught a particular bass that does have a big dark patch on one side of it's face. After catching it once I've seen it a few more times swimming around.

Well, tell you what. If you can give me a decent method of getting a small canoe (or kayak) into that water without being shot by land owners, then I'll give you the exact GPS coordinates (within 3') of the fish. Sounds like a fair trade right?

Seriously though, they could care less about rubber craws, rubber worms, crankbaits etc. But as soon as my hand and camera appeared, she was totally interested. Splashing my fingers a bit would bring her to me.

This is a terrible thing to say but everytime I see a picture of a bass with its mouth closed I am reminded of my grandmother.

1st time I ever saw a post-it note car I thought it was the coolest thing. We did not have post-it notes when I was in high school. We had to do it the old fashion way! T.P. from the trees and bar soap on the windshield.
