Thanks for teaching me to bass fish. Thanks for turning the boat around when I got hung up. Thanks for reminding me to set the hook when I wasnt paying attention to my line(how he heck can he watch 2 lines at the same time), thanks for letting me reel in the fish you set the hook on when I was having a bad day, thanks for teaching me to fish slow. Thanks for the scoldings when I wasnt paying attention and was old enough yo know better, thanks for letting me drive the boat. Thanks for letting me get skunked when I "decided" I "knew" the best lure/tecnique to use, thanks for buying me and my brother that 2 man bass tracker with the 65 minn kota to "go out alone".....Thanks for taking me fishing!

Amen to that. Now I am doing the same with my son. We are fishing a local club together and having a blast.

Thats awesome....I grew up without my dad in my life, however, God blessed me with a much older brother who took me fishing alot. So thanks to my brother Brad! Without our fathers and brothers and whoever that person in our lives was....who knows where we'd be!
And thank to you SFA44 for your post, that was great!

I taught my girls to fish and they love going out, I enjoy watching their faces as they try to catch the minnows to put on their hooks. It's even better when they hook a fish, and their imaginations run wild when one gets off. It's just awesome.

Amen! The only time I spent time with my dad as a youngster was on the weekends. And everytime he would pick me up from school on friday and he would have the Champion hooked on the truck ready to go! He tought me everything I know and I'm so glad he showed me the ways of the outdoors.
I don't have kids yet, but I'm having to do this with my girlfriend now. I'll be ready to teach my kids!

Got two girls of my own(14 and 10). We spent and entire day on Choke couple of weeks ago. It was a great day. Hearing my oldest cuss under her breath on a late hook set was priceless, fishing my youngest's Zebco 33 out of 8 ft of water was not the most fun I have ever had in my life but it reminded me of when my Dad did the same for me.......What a great lifetime sport that links generations and genders

That's good stuff. My two favorite fishing partners are my dad and my son.
My son and i were fishing on Rayburn a few weeks ago and he was talking about how his paw paw taught him how to fish the rogue dead sticking. I thought to myself "he taught me almost every technique i know".
I have many of great memories fishing the local tournaments with my dad.

My dad has never fished in his life and never even been on my boat. I wish I could share some memories with him on the water. If you fish with your dad just consider yourself lucky.

Looking back, I remember my dad hated fishing and was too busy to fish, but I loved it from the first Jimmy Houston episode I can remember. He did buy a boat, and he did take me out, only to sacrifice for my love of fishing.Till this day he still hates fishing but he gave me the chance to love it till I DIE!!! THANKS DAD..

I want to thank my dad for the $500 a month payment on the new boat! He tought me not to wast my money on [censored], so I bought a Skeeter! He never was one to go hunting and fishing but was always suportfull of my crazzy ideas! He has gone fishing with my step-brother and a guy he workes with. Maybe someday he will want to go with me! I Love You Dad!
