Do any of you make a weedless jig?

Yes and NO...
Yes, some of us make them, including myself, but not often.

..And NO, most of us don't due to a few reasons...

As you already know that most pre-made jigheads out there in the market are not up to par in quality of hooks used, and limited in styles. Most jig tiers pour their own jigheads in various styles, and sizes with quality hooks.
In order to make a weedless jig, it would take a few steps. While pouring the jighead, one must alter the jigmold with a chisel to creat a groove where the wire would go. Best wiring material for me is the titanium wire which comes in spool..Cut to length, bend into a loop, and loop over the hook before hot lead pouring All these steps are very do-able, but require much efforts. The result, at least 3times the amount of time to pour a weedless jig vs. the reg. one.
Then when it comes to tying a weedless jighead, jig tiers are now facing the weedguard being in the way. Carefully tying around the weedguard to have a quality jig in the end would take at least double if not triple the amount of time...
Configure all the time spent to create a weedless hand-tied jig would at least jack the price up triple of not quadruple.
As much time as I spent tying a single normal quality high end jig, no jig tiers (including myself) would have time explaining to any potential buyer that a weedless jig of the same caliber would cost them at least $5.00 a piece. 90% of crappie anglers rather spend 20cents on a plastic tube jig.... Now you know the rest of the story...heheheh

PM Brian Gibson. He makes a fine weedless jig and can "build to order". Just tell him what you want. I just got a couple dozen and haven't really had a chance to test them but they look awfully fishy and the weedguard can be stiff or flexable as you want to make it. Talk to Brian, he'll explain. Tell him Pepop sent you.

Too much of a pain and got enough to deal with the Roadrunners size 1/32 to 1/8 Oz. and jigs size 1/80 to 1/4 Oz. painted and plated heads with hooks of different sizes. Lot of special ways to do weedless, but I don't use weedless so don't make them and after all I am in this for something to do and enjoy tying. It's my hobby for real.

Yes, weedless jigs are not the most fun to tie, but some of us do it. I try not to do it to often though!

I have an easy fix for you. Get you some rubber bands that are made for braces. Put the rubber band around the eye of the hook and streatch it to the barb and let the barb hold the rubber band. That will work and the packs come in 200. Try that on the jigs you are using.

Heard of that before, but had forgotten it. I just use them as is and use Power Pro line so get most back and just bend the hook back. I use 10/2.

I have been thinking about buying some great weedless jig heads for a guy I know that makes them with a little plastic V and then you could paint using vinyl and not have to do the heat cure, but it does take the vinyl a while to completely dry and tighten up.

May just do that or offer it soon.

Thanks for all the feedback, just wondering about it. The fish house I go to has a lot of sunken brush and wires. I have lost almost all my jigs in there. Thaks again
