Anyone want to admit if the fish are biting down there. Spring Break is next week, and I'm trying to figure out which way to head with my son. You can pm me if you don't want EVERYBODY else to know.
Thanks,
T-Gil

Thinking of going there Saturday if my hands heal enough from clening fish on trip to river ridge. If yopu want your son to have a lifetime sandie trip it would be worth your while to go to river ridge. About a 4 trip to get there

Where is River Ridge? Is it a creek or river, or is it a lake?

T-Gil the Brazos is for all pratical purposes DEAD right now. The feeder creeks are holding what fish there are. BAD BAD BAD Golden Algae problem from Granbury dam to Whitney with fish kills up and down the river.

River Ridge is on the Sabine River just south of Carthage. You can put a boat in off HWY 79 there and bypass paying at River Ridge.

T-Gil,

The last 3 trips I have made down there have been horrible! I have only caught 3 fish in the Spring Creek area.

Feeder creeks are getting a decent run, though.

Brazos is dead?? This hasn't been my experience. Maybe it's just the places you go. I fished the Brazos this morning and caught fish all day until I had to leave. Sure, the water was kinda yellow, but the fish didn't seem to mind. The whites/hybrids were plentiful with easy bank access. No bass this time though, but I'm sure they're still in there somewhere. I don't know where Spring Creek is, but I was up close to PK. Every time I'm there, I'm always all alone. Maybe its my little secret. But it's an easy day trip from DFW. Just ignore the trout fishermen and look for deeper water.

Brazos is far from dead. Been fishing below Granbury and doing real good. Some 2lb sandies caught. Total of 45 in 4 hours on Sunday.

The Spring Creek area of the Brazos has been dead. I have talked to several people in the area and none were having much luck.

fishingallday-

how far below granbury are you talking about? Above Glen Rose?

There has been a good bite at Tres Rios near Glenrose. Been a good bite at Cleburne at mouth of Nolan, big females full of eggs, probably headed back up creek if water cleared. There is easy access at Byron stewart park if bank fishing.

RossF,
Is that Golden Algae prominent in the Spring Creek area? If so, are the fish still edible?

I have seen signs of the Golden Algae all the way from the Islands to Kimball Bend. There are a few pockets of clean water in between, but not much.

The fish are still edible.

I will say this about the Spring Creek area, if anyone is catching fish I haven't seen it or heard about it. I will be on the river again for 2-3 days and will head up that way to see if there are any fish. It is hard not to go up there and at least see if there are fish.

It is one of my favorite areas to fish and hopefully they will make a showing this year.
