The tickets were for undersize fish, no licenses, more than the limit, and a warning to a guy about about giving fish away, as far as I know. Yesterday several of the people there were bitching about all of it..... And they weren't even the ones getting the tickets! HA!

The sand bass bite is still on up the Kickapoo side.
We set out to crappie fish but ended up ditching the shiners and fishing for sand bass. What motivated us was the fact that the sand bass were breaking the water everywhere. We put in on the westernmost bridge on 31 around 5:30 pm Wednesday and fished until dark, as far up as the train pilings. We only saw one boat on the water; he was fishing for black bass but was hauling in the sandies as quickly as we were.
Crawfish crankbaits fished slowly in the deep bends was the key today. Several were taken on red and chartreuse jigs fished with a cork at 4 feet, and some tight lined.
I'm not 100% fluent in their behavior, but the bite seemed just as hot as it was a month ago.
We had aspirations to bring home a chest full of crappie, but 20 husky sand bass was just as fun.

Raddlin' thats good stuff! Being around the Full Moon always puts them in a up-tick during the run.

I have not, actually. In fact, there are fewer and fewer vehicles parked there every day now. You'd think the bite is over, but we discovered otherwise yesterday, at least on the Kickapoo side.
Have you got any advice for crappie up near the north end?

i fished kickapoo just north of the 31 bridge and caught a bunch wednesday, fished neches a couple times and did pretty good with some 20 inch hybrids. yesterday only caught a couple in 1 hour. they were stacked in one spot though saw a guy doing good. water is getting low. only caught 1 fish with eggs so it must be winding down. think i saw the legend ay kickapoo in his pelican. i was in the red kayak at the corner there north of the kickapoo bridge .

Still lots of fish in the kickapoo area, especially around the bridge. Seem to be moving back into the lake. Saw several limits yesterday.

Yup, that was me. I'm also moving out to the main lake in my 16' CC starting this weekend. Kickapoo was good to very good the past 6 weeks. I (we) really shouldn't write much about Kickapoo to try to keep it productive & peaceful. I quickly got tired of the "Circus" on the Neches & Hwy 31 and left it by the end of Feb.
