You think the bass are shallow yet? I was thinking of trying out some stick baits. What do you guys think the bass are doing right now and the best way to catch them? I'll be in a little boat. I think the deepest part of the pond is less than 20 ft. Pond is called Echo Lake off Ripy exit on I-35W

I am not familiar with that pond, but I have been fishing several other ponds in the area that are probably similar. You'll probably do okay with soft stickbaits. It just depends on the conditions at your pond. I have been doing well lately with a 4" chart. pepper Zoom lizard. I have caught bass fishing it both weightless and T-rig with a 1/16 or 1/8 oz. bullet weight.

They are hitting spinnerbaits well, I would throw your baits toward aggressive fish 1st and work it over with soft baits and jigs after

My two cents, for Echo, fish the north far east side with soft plastics! Most of all, have fun.

Also, have you tried the pond off of I-30 and Okland on the southside of the freeway...have caught some nice bass there as well.

Good Fishing and God Bless

Pond off I-30 and Oakland? I have not heard of it. Always up for trying new bodies of water. I fish Echo often and always do well. The best for me there is just slowly crawling a shaky head watermelon fleck worm with chart tail. I was just wondering if the bite was on and what others are catching them on right now.

I am a pond fisherman as well but last Thurs went out to Fork and caught seven male on a gold/chartreuse chatter bait 1/2oz. Went pond fishin' in valley view the day before and threw everything I could at em. The water was still higher than normal but hopefully they will start biting as the temp gets warmer. Ended up catching a grappie and a couple bass just on live minnows while i was throwing lures. Good Luck!!

Fishin' aint always easy, but it's necessary!!!

Interesting. Everyone is saying northeast end, but most of my bass there have come from the northwest end, many right on the back in the cattails. I'll have to try fishing the northeast end heavier. Normally I just fish near whatever bank the wind is blowing on. I'll give a report tomorrow.

Don't think I've ever tried Como at all. Where is that?

Report for today: Guess it had been too long since I have taken the boat out, or rather used my battery (I just use a trolling motor on my little boat). Battery wouldn't hold a charge and had hardly any juice when I got ot the lake. So my buddy and I just fished off the shore. I caught 7 bass and he caught 1. I didn't wanna try a stick bait off the shore, so I wound up just using a shaky head with a walermelon seed worm with a chart tail. The fish cooperated. Man it was windy though. All the fish were fat. All were 2 lbs or more except for one. Doesn't look like they have laid eggs or made beds yet as they are deeper than where their beds are normally on that body of water.

Not that I've ever seen. They have a bunch of guys riding horses there all the time. Guy was running his RC motorboat out there today. Some people jogging and walking their dogs. Saw one other guy fishing right before I left at like 11:40am.

I drove by Como one time and never got out of the truck. There was trash floating all over the water and the main problem with Como is its in Como. Might go back someday when I get my CHL.
