I need a electric fillet knive and wonder what is a good brand to go with. Academey has the Mister Twister unit on sale for $14.99. Is it worth the money or should I go with something else. You boys clean enough crappies to know what a good unit can do.

Good buy and that's a great knife...
I have a heavy duty version (Blue color salt water Piranha)...and believe me, I've clean many man limits with the very same knife. All I ever do is replacing the blades every so often...Mr. Twister is a good choice!!! especially for $14.99

Go with whats cheapest. They all seem to last about the same amount of time. Im hard on a knife, so yours may last longer. One thing to remember. They absoluty will not ride on the bumper of the truck all the way home. I lost one this way, the other fell victim to the trailer tire.

I wore out 2 of the green and yellow ones, but they are decent knifes. I like the Pirahna (blue and white) with the thin blades the best, that is a great knife.

I've got both the green & yellow and the Pirahna. Get the Pirahna, the blades alone are worth the extra $$.

Picked up a cheap Berkley knife at Walmart the other day and its junk. Sure wish they would have had a Mister Twister there.

Oh yea. I meant to exclude the Berkley. They are carp. I did like the Cabelas knife. It was a Bargin for $10 when they were on sale.

I use a general electric, common kitchen style, it has alot of power and has not let me down in 7 yrs, blades on the other hand have to be replaced about twice a year, I use the rapala universal filet blades they come sharp, sharp , sharp.

I bought several of them at Academy back in December when they were $14.99. That is a great buy. They are good knifes and you'll like them. I also have the salt water (blue and white one) but like the other better because its not quite as bulky.

I once had a GE. I bought it back when there were no electric fillet knives. That knife went thru tons of bass, crappie, redfish, spec trout, flounder, tuna, and many other species. It lasted 22 years and finally fell apart in my hands. It died doing what it loved to do. I gave it an honorable burial because I just couldnt throw it in a trash can. That is not what you do with an old friend.
