Just wondering what everyone's favorite area's of Toledo Bend are this time of year and why if you care to share.I usually tend to end up fishing the Blue Lake area on the Louisiana side most of the time because it has a little of everything. Leaving tommorow night wanting to try something new.

Not trying to hijack a post, but has anybody heard of Gary Newell. He's a guide,he;s my uncle and just thought I would ask. He's been a guide on the lake for a long time! There again not highjacking. Thanks Mike Newell.

No problem Mike. What area of the lake does he call home? Never heard of him.

I think for numbers of better quality fish you should stick to the area you have been fishing, it is about as good as it gets if the bite is on. You can catch more numbers on a regular basis down in Housen and Six Mile but you wont catch near the nubmer of 4 and 5 pounders that you will up near Blue Lake. The problem with Blue Lake is that water fluxuation and local pressure can both effect the fish up there. The locals have never heard of catch and release up there, it will make you sick at your stomach watching them keep big fish after big fish, especially when your practicing for a tournament.

You are right about the quality of fish in the Blue Lake as well as the meat hunters. My buddy was in Blue Lake last weekend and said the fishing pressure was unreal. This trip I will be fishing with my two sons's 13 and 10,so I am thinking more along the lines of numbers.Last year my son ,then 12 ,caught his pb a 8.5 in Palo Gaucho on Good Friday,so you can bet that he will have me fishing that same spot this Good Friday.Never really fished Housen much ,might give that a try for a day or two.

My sons and I fished Housen this last weekend.Friday thru Sunday.
Caught around 75 fish. Most in the 2 pound range.
Launched at Jacks 944 and never left that area.
Biggest fish for the weekend went 7.7 lbs.

I usually fish from the Community Hole south. Housen, Six Mile, McGee's Flat, Clear Creek, Buck Creek, and Indian Creek. We fished over 3 days two weeks ago and caught over 50 bass mostly on Senko's (Watermelon purple flake) and zoom trick whacky worms (watermelon seed dipping the tail)

Also caught 10 white perch with 2 right at 2 lbs each.
