Went camping this past weekend. Good weather, nice campground, good facilities etc. Everything was perfect until about 9:30 pm when the music at the outdoor bar/dock at Catfish Bay marina started. It blasted through the entire camp until 2:00 am. Add to that all of the go-fast boats revving their 700hp engines to 6000 rpm and it was a nightmare! They would rev the engines so loud it set off car alarms in the parking lot. Did I mention they did this until 2:00am both Fri and Sat...

Sorry to hear that...sounds like the road past my house on Friday and Saturday night.

Next time do East Burns Run on the OK side near the dam. It's on the water (camp sites 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 are prime) and really quiet (patrolled, too).

That's those darn Okie's for you. I stayed at East Burns Run this weekend, Had a church party it appeared just two sites down from me. Mike Stewart said they played horse shoes until almost 11:00PM, which kept him awake, but after fighting those waves to catch a limit of fish Saturday morning, a bomb could have exploded near me and likely not woke me up.

Also, Eisenhower Marina (which is the Texas side State Park) is the quietest park on the lake after 10:00PM They will give you a citation for even playing horse shoes after that time.

Those Darn Okies! Maytag I notice you make a Beeline for the good side of the lake every chance you get.

I have to admit that it may not have been the noise that kept me up, but the fact that I kept hearing 'ping', 'ping', after 'ping' along with the congratulations. I only played this game once in my life, and I guess I was more impressed, than annoyed.

Lawn Darts wouldn't have been as noisy (I wonder if anyone still has a set of these ).

East Burns is a really nice camp ground, even sleeping in the boat next to the horse shoes (beats sleeping next to lawn darts).

If you have the chance, check out the camp ground at Eisenhower. If you like 'The grand Canyon' view, then this could be the spot for you. They have some sites that are within 10 yards of a 50 foot drop-off (they have a fence in case you wake up on the wrong side of Gravity). It is very quite, and it has a hiking trail through the park.

It can get pretty windy up there, but this time of year the wind can help keep you cool.

We have camped all over Texoma including Eisenhower and Burns Run. We usually go to Burns Run West, but East is great too. All around, I think Burns is the best on the lake. I have stayed a Juniper point too and it is fine. This was our first time at Texoma state park and we had heard good things about it. And it was a nice facility, especially for the kids, but the noise was terrible. I might go back without the kids, if I could be one of the partiers making the noise, it would not be as bad...

TexPat, have you ever stayed at Lakeside, or Johnson Creek. Those are two camps just east of the Roosevelt Bridge.

Lakeside is where we hold the Old Geezers Fish Fry every year. It is the camp with more water front lots that any park on the lake. The B section is real nice, but a bit hot for lack of trees in the summer. The A section is nice in the hot summer due to the trees.

Johnson Creek has some of the most beautiful camp sites on the lake. Many of them are lake front where you can park a boat right below you.

But, I'm not going to reveal the best kept secret on Lake Texoma to anyone!

And yes Kahuna it is on your side of the lake also.
