Good Morning of fishing today! Surfacing action was constant from 7 a.m. til 10:30 a.m.

Followed the fish on top and slabbing in the main lake area south of the 309 from the levy almost to ferguson point in 52 feet of water. A LOT of smaller fish, though!

Left that and went up to pelican island, and immediately got back in them, in 15 to 30 feet, and off of the humps toward the dogleg! Better size here!

After they went down, we caught many larger fish and some "almost keeper hybrids" in the 15" -17" inch range! smile

Fun, Fun Morning! laugh laugh

Only bad thing is that on the way back the water pump went out on our motor, so now so now the boat is at fun-n-sun! frown

,,,,,,anybody need a fishin' buddy or two! wink

I was there this morning as well. We caught LOTS of small fish as well of the 309 flats/dam area in the big school from around 8:30-10:30. We then also moved over to Pelican Island and we also caught lots of bigger fish there. We had to huge schools come through there. The last one went down around noon. Ended the day by towing a fisherman and his son who had run of gas. It was a great day of fishing with my two nephews.

Monty, if you see me on 287 headed that way, pull me over....Not sure when I will go, not this weekend, but maybe one day next week.....or the weekend. This weekend is out except for Sunday and I think we are going to Whitney.

Hey rbadley, I'll bet we saw you, we were in the big blue/silver skeeter that almost had to be towed in!

Steve, Thanks for the offer, but I gotta start getting ready to crank up the band at school next week! Man it's tough being a teacher!

Hal, That sounds like fun! smile Maybe later this week?

Monty, did you tell me one time you were a director at Sam? My daughter is in the band at Martin. I'll have to look you up a contest or football game if we don't meet down at RC sometime!

BTW, we play a football game every Friday from the beginning of September until the beginning of November. No 'byes' this year. Of course, at Martin, we don't have to worry about the playoffs! laugh laugh laugh

WE have football on every Friday night, one game is in San Antonio, I hope it is not the weekend of S. Texas dove season, if it is, then I hope it is on Friday and not Saturday as I can drive up for the game and then go back to the ranch. I think we have an open week in late Sept., but last year we played until the second weekend of December and lost at state. Private school football.

Back to your subject, love the sound of the band practicing early in the morning. Grew up in Cleburne and they were always at it early, from the house I owned there in the early 90's, I could hear them while I was leaving to go to work. Then at Baylor, you could hear them in the afternoons while I was leaving class. Boy, I always hated to be those kids...it was always hot and they had to do the same stuff day after day. I remember hearing the band director at Cleburne back in the early to mid 80's get on his megaphone or bull horn and rip em.. laugh My nephew is in the band there now and is a senior, I think he is glad this is his last year of school.

rbadley, I saw you and will remember your boat for next time!

Capnjoe, I'm in the Sam cluster. I'm actually at Workman Jr High, and am going into my 8th year! eek That's really cool that your daughter is in band! We could definately hookup at Dean Corey, if not at RC before! I'll have my kids at that for sure, as you know!

Steve, Marching band practices in the morning are my favorite too!
It's cooler! laugh I have worked with the high school kids at Sam some in the summer, and after school in the fall!

Ball games every friday night in the fall are not the most appealing thing! frown Especially when you plan to get up at 4:30 a.m on saturday morning to go
fishing! wink ,,,,,,,and it's an away game, and you get in at 1:00! :p

But seriously, band is a great, quality activity, with a built in social group of typically nice kids! ,,,,,,,,and best of all it keeps them reeeaaaallllly busy and off of the streets!

Monty, I'll see you at Dean Corey Night for sure. I'm do volunteer work for Martin, on the pit crew, and will be handling the ladder for the drum major on the right side of the field. Also, I have a younger daughter that is in the Boles Band.

Small world!

Meantime, I'll be heading down to RC next Friday. smile
