With the wind blowing like there was no tomorrow and the Striper/Hybrid/Sandy bite being slow,at best, we decided to run to Fairfield on Sat.morning and troll up some reds. Texasfivegun and I along, with our two sons, got there around 0645 hrs and on the water as the sun peeked up. Heard on the radio that Garanteed Guide service had had a good week or two pulling large Traps and we had had some luck lately, with stickbaits and spoons so we had a heck of a spread out. Downriggers, sideplainers and all. Trolled all over the main lake and over by the discharge also both close to the bank and out deep. Finally got a hit around 0915 hrs and what a hit it was. Fiveguns son was closest to the rod so it was his. He fought awhile and we decided that this was a VERY good fish. Brought in all the other lines and Tucker fought this fish for 20 min. Did a perfect job and kept his cool while we coached him along in an excited manner.

When the fish got to the boat we just could not believe what we were seeing!!! Wow! A huge Redfish and for sure the biggest I have seen yet. Fivegun went to net it and bring it in and our net just collapsed. But we made it inside the boat. Of course, high fives all around and spent a few min. getting the Stealth back in order and we trolled for another hour or two after, without anything else.

Rolled em in and headed to Sam's for lunch where a friend told us to check the junior angler record for Fairfield reds. We went back to the state park headquarters and wieghed this brute and she came in at 22# 38" long. Missed the record by one pound and some change.

All is fine though, the fish will be shared all around, the sun shines a little brighter today and I am very happy to have had such an experiance. Ready to do it again.

Looks like 17 spots on right side and at least 13 on the other side - great fish, Capt!

I was trying to decide if I wanted to go tomorrow. I have not decided yet. Great fish.

Water level is up. Both ramps are open and able to launch cc boats as long as 22' or more, I would guess.

CaptJohn - you didn't happen to notice that little flashin' thingy up along the border above the posting area next to the "My Stuff" triangle have you? That means you have a PM (personal message). Been there almost two days now....grin
