I reckon some answers are in order...
15 preregs plus like 10 regs, give or take, this morning... Thats over $3000, pushing $4000. Should pay 1 in 5 REGISTERED, regardless of if they show up or not.
Sounds more like a 20% payback, and two or three teams got shafted.

There was a guy fishing off the dock that caught a nice bass- I think he was JAWS of the Crappie house, the guy said he ate a perch he was reeling in earlier in the day, so he tied on a red-eye shad and was jigging it and he got him a 11.67 Toad out of the deal.

Results from PBM Big Bass Bash March 27 2010: 1st place Strickland/DiGiro 12.05 lbs. 2nd Place McClendon/Strasher 11.87 lbs.
Big Bass Option: 1st Place Newkirk/Newkirk 8.06 lbs. 2nd Place Stogsdill/Stogsdill 4.70 lbs.
Regarding the questions: 1. There were 15 boats pre-registered; 5 prepaid, remainder to pay on site. 2. 5 prepaid boats attended, 1 unpaid pre-registered boat attended and paid on-site, remainder were no shows. 3. 8 boats registered and paid on-site, for a total of 14 paid registrations. 4. Cost to pre-register was $100/boat. Cost at site included an additional $25 late fee to encourage pre-registration and pre-payment. 5. $270 was collected in the big bass option, all paid out to 2 places. 6. 43% of the paid entries were paid out, remainder to the charity. 7. When asked how many were registered, we stated that we had 15 boats pre-registered. We had 15 registered but they were not all prepaid and did not all show up. 8. My web site and all related information has stated only that payout will be 1 place for every 5; 85% or any other percentage has not been on my website. 9. Along with the payout, Colonial golf tickets and Cowboys Golf Club round for 4 plus cart and meal were added, each worth $200+. 10. 14 boats, 2 payouts (1 for 5), and we awarded 3rd place with a Sams Town stay in Bossier City plus meal ticket and gas card.
There seems to be a perception that we had 25-30 boats paid and only paid out on the boats that showed up, which is incorrect. Grand total of 14 boats paid, 43% of registration fees received paid out, remainder to the charity. If all had attended that had comitted either by phone, email, or pre-registering we would have had 30-35 boats. If boats had paid and not attended their fee would have been included in the payouts, but that was not the case. Sorry about the mis-perception, never has been an 85% payout listed on my web site, the only changes that were made were to allow the Wed night bass club members to participate. Thanks for coming out, sorry I couldnt do anything about the high winds, I appreciate your support for the Firemans Relief Benevolent Association, hope this clears everything up and hope to see you in September. I will try to get the pictures posted later today.

Not trying to be disrespectful but good luck trying to find any anglers that are going to fish a 40 percent payout tournament. We were severely mislead. I apologize for raising hell but this just aint right. You marketed 85 percent and it is the exact reason MANY of us fished it. You lied to us. Im sorry but i wouldnt even try to have this tournament again.
God Bless, Barrett

My web site does not now and never has stated an 85% payout. Item 21 on the Rules page of my web site states, and has always stated Paying one place for every 5 entries. There are several other tournament postings on the forum unrelated to this tournament that list 85% payout and you or whoever started this must have looked at one of those by mistake. The $25 is considered as a late fee and is not included for payout calculations; it is applied towards expenses as per normal tournament procedure.
As previously stated, we had 15 boats pre-registered; 5 of those prepaid. We had a total of 15 completed registration forms in hand from pre-registration. When I was asked how many were pre-registered I stated 15 registered, 5 paid. 1 pre-registered boat paid on-site.
9 pre-registered, unpaid boats were no-shows. 14 boats paid, 14 boats fished. 1st place paid $400 + golf package valued at $200+ for a total cash value of $600. 2nd place paid $200 + Colonial NIT passes valued at $200 for a total cash value of $400. 3rd place was not a payout since we needed one more boat to pay another place, and 3rd was awarded the Sams Town trip for a cash value of $300. The golf package, Colonial NIT passes, and Sams Town trip were part of the awards and not raffle prizes. Previously stated 43% payout was calculated before expenses excluding the cash value prizes. The actual cash value of each award comes to $1300 paid out on $1400 received in entry fees for a payout of 92.86%, not including the raffle items.
