Congrats, but this fish will have an asterisk beside it until Robby Rose gets on here and apporves of this.
No White Rock Records fall without his apporval!
Seriously, congrats on the great fish.

Thanks Alton...again, not claiming the record...just questioning it. I understand since we didn't weigh it.

awesome job!
and after you catch a record you can stroll over to the liquor store get a 40 then go over by the old railroad bridge and drink with the bums.. you got to love urban fishing!
CONGRATS!

Nice fish, Don't advertise it too much the lake can't take the pressure. I bet 9.5#.
I have caught two could have broken the record, but that year (1999 or 2000) there were rumors of a "lake regular" catching one over 10. so I put back two 9's in the same area (photo of smaller fish)you were fishing, only to find out TPWD did not accept the paper work.
Doug's on Garland road used to have certified scales, remember any of the local grocery stores have certified scales.

good fish travis ... was this one caught on a long worm ? seems the trend this year is going to be a long worm instead of a creature type bait . but what do i know ??

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Whiterockjesse, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between a long vs short worm...but it was a worm.

Well, decided to measure my scale and see how off it was this morning. Tyler actually used my $4 scale and said "these things are never accurate" so completely dismissed it. He said it read around 4.5 lbs. I believed him and just figured I wasted $4. Weighed a 10lb weight this morning and it read 10 lbs. 10lbs equals just over 4.5 kg. The idiot was reading kg's and not pounds. So, yes, it was just under 10 and the lake record.
I mentioned we didn't have a scale because it wasn't even close in our minds. Ahhh fish stories.
We'll go for her again soon since we know where she beds.

I would recommend staying after it. that fish and many more will be taking up shop in that area and others just like it.
they should be around for the next two weeks.
you might get lucky again, since you are "rafting it", you should consider getting igloo cooler and making a "live well" that you could keep in your car/truck. if you do land another you are able to transport up to a store with certified scales. weight it, photograph it, and then you can put it back with out too much stress.

They're in there. I've actually heard it's one of the most stocked lakes in the area.

I drove around that entire lake last week looking for some fishing spots. Looks like we both think alike. I also just purchased a small boat and have been dying to put it in Whiterock. I would have been fishing for Crappie. Congrats on the great catch and your post will now have me buying a set of scales. You DA Man for letting her go to spawn.

Looks like it was you or your buddy that was asking about putting that raft out on Lake Fork. I'd say you went the safer route, and still came out ahead! I live 2 blocks from WR myself and have never had any success out there. I guess I'll have to try again.
