I keep reading about the White Bass run, what exactly do you mean? Say I fish Lewisviile and wnat to catch Sandies, what should I be doing? The only time I can catch Sandies is when they are schooling like crazy May-July. These may be dumb questions, if so...my bad. What water depth and lures. What kind of set up etc..Thanks for help that can be offered.

They run up creeks to spawn. Any lake you fish right now you will do better fishing the feeder creeks. Most are caught on roadrunners, jigs or small rattletraps.

Ditto what he said. The White Bass run is the fish heading up stream to breed.
In space, nobody can hear you scream for ice cream.

Roadrunners definitely one of the most popular lures for sandies. I've also had a lot of luck with white grubs on chartreuse jig heads and plain old minnows.

good answers. also, use light tackle for those things so you can cast em'. if the action is fast you can use a heavier set up and just burn a spoon.
i've never fished for hybrids anywhere other than proctor (no creeks good for runs and spawns), but they seem to be shallow this time of year and crank baits work well. the only other luck i've had with hybrids is trolling or jigging deep.

Hybrids will also run upstream with the white bass. That is why I prefer fishing the Lewisville creeks to the Grapevine creeks - every now and then the fish that hits your lure is a 20 inch hybrid instead of a 14 inch sandy!

Go to the Bank Fishing section & You will see a thread called Rowlett Creek Sandbass Run. You'll learn a lot about sandbass & hybrid fishing in the creeks.

ditto on the lures and creeks for this time of year, and here in a month or so when they all head back to deeper water in the main lake I will either chase the birds to find them feeding on schools of shad or the technique that works quite well when the birds aren't working is to find a hump that is holding baitfish and vertically fish with slab baits or small jigs. And the last way that I know of to catch sandies is to troll when the thermocline sets up (usually between 15-25ft. depending on the lake) and seperates the cold oxygen depleted water from the warm oxygen rich water. You can usually see a hard line at this depth on your finder when the water gets warm. I recommend rattle traps, swim baits, or crank baits and troll around those same humps and points (near the dam is usually another good spot). Good luck and hope this will help you out.

Would this be something a sand bass would be interested in? Definitely NOT!!! You should pack them all up and send them to me immediately for proper disposal. Bought or homemade? Very nice.

Yea, I was playing around with some macrame cord scraps I got in a grab bag from King Kountry. I tied on different color combinations as I went down the hook shank. I put on a few strands of green flash to finish it off. It has white, off white, light tan, black, red and a bluish gray cords. I brushed them out after I finished the fly and it gave it a nice plump profile. They are polypropylene fibers so they won't absorb water. It is more a bream profile I guess then a shad but it could be trimmed down some. I call it Macrame Meal,
