You have spent thousands of dollars on fishing gear. I am assuming that you have a few rods...yet you are fishing with a rod that you don't like? Then you try to get store credit when you bring a broken rod in yet the rod manufacturer's return policy says they will replace that rod only. So you are upset that Bass Pro followed the manufacturer's return policy as well as their own policy which you knew about on the front end. Is that correct? I am confused why you are upset.

ryanl,
TxFishin08 has it right. The warranty that they were offering you was from Shimano, not BPS. And it is true that they are to replace the broken one (with no questions) with another Shimano rod just like it. There are certain things that they have to do to get their replacement rod that they give you under the warranty. They don't get cash sent to them from Shimano, Shimano sends them a replacement rod for their inventory. and this only happens after BPS sends in a cutoff portion of your defective rod. Actually BPS will be with out that product for a lenght of time since they have to send that in and then wait on the new rod to be shipped.

Maybe you need to give them some understanding in that they have policies in place to make sure that they stay in business.

Now on the other hand, with you being a valued customer, I can't see why they couldn't have given you the like Shimano rod and then allowed you to return it for credit so that you could then get the rod you want. But for some reason they felt like they couldn't do it.

I'm pretty sure those people didn't wake up that morning and the thought came across their mind that they felt like totally screwing over a valued customer today and then you just happended to show up. give them a break. they are people too.

Exactly!

I know I have spent as much as this guy if not more at that store, as have 80% of the people that walk through the doors there. I have exchanged 3 rods at BPS due to a defect, went and got the exact same rods and was out the door in 20 minutes total. They bent the store policy to let this guy get the other rod he wanted, yet he still makes a post bashing them and plugs his favorite "small" tackle store all in the same thread. rolfmao I'm sorry but this is so pathetic its funny!

I have had the exact opposite experience at BPS Grapevine. I had a crankin stick get broken. The dog was on the boat, got a crank stuck in his foot, and while he was trashing around the deck, he broke my rod. I went to BPS, with the rod, and told them what happpened. They laughed, then said "for DD-22's, you really need to try the 7'6" crankin stick in medium". So I did. When I took the rod to customer service, they said "we're having a sale, and that rod is $30 off. Would you like store credit or cash?"

Great store. They've always treated me right.

I bought a Falcon rod there. When I got home later that day threading line through the eyes.... I noticed one of the eyes was missing the insert. Straight back the same day with receipt in hand and was told I would have to ship it to Falcon. After having it out with the store manager... she finally exchanged it. Last rod I have bought there.

And I know who "Jeff" is.

It's all about relationship building. I have spent over 14 grand in BPS of Garland in the last 10 months ( including a Tracker Bass Boat ) I had purchased two BPS rods that I did not like, and I used them, still had the receipts, took them back, and said I did not like them, too heavy, money given back no problem.

I love BPS of Garland

The policy is in black and white and explained to you when you purchase a high end rod. They get hit day in and day out. This was clearly a manufacture warranty issue. I bought a Loomis rod back in Feb. and a very similar situation happend to me. I sent it back to Loomis as instructed and they sent me a rod back... end of story. If I were unhappy with it, I would have just sold it on Craigs list/Ebay or something. I dont really see the problem? Not to mention you've been fishing with a rod you don't like for roughly 3 months?
