The water temp on Oak Creek was 58 two weeks ago. Caught my fish on baby brush hogs. Watched a guy to really good on Red shad worms in the bushes. That really narrows it down for that lake don't it.

I still don't see why people are willing to pay such high entry fees to fish LAH. For just a little bit farther drive(from Lubbock) Oak Creek has a comparable fishery if looking for numbers. Plus if you launch at HWY 70 its free, and it is nowhere near as crowded.

Thats what I have been wondering is how Oak Creek Compared to Alan Henry because I am tired of paying the price to get into AH. And now the fact that you cant eat the fish out of there really sucks.(dont worry I dont eat bass) Anyone esle got any comparisons from Oak Creek to AH. I do like the quality of fish from AH though.

I wouldn't count Oak Creek out on big fish. I have heard reports of a lot of 8 to 10 pound fish being caught, and I would bet there is some SAL's swiming around there too. I would give it fair chance that with the water warming up that a big one be caught.

from lubbock oak creek is a pretty good drive. never fished allen henry, but have heard good things about that lake. biggest bass i've pulled out of oak creed was 4.5lbs. all the others were either dinks or in the 1.5-2.5lbs. range. if you go to oak creek jst make sure and get your daily permits. there are two places on the lake that i know of, but sometimes if you get there bright and early there might not be anybody there.

Went to the OC today. Water up the creeks was dingy, clearer on the main lake. Couldn't fish well because of the WIND. Saw temps 53 main lake to 57 creeks. Bunch of guys from Amarillo were there fishing out of little styrofoam pontoon boats.
