I have never been into records except my own documentation, so haven’t paid any attention, but my son checked into them and found we have already broken fly rod and rod and reel records several times for Hybrid Striped bass from “our” ponds.
Let me explain that “our” ponds actually are owned by my son Jeff - I am the “share cropper” pond manager – or the one that pays the bills …..
The fish I caught this week was 6.75 lbs and broke the fly rod HSB record by 2.5 lbs, and broke the rod and reel record by 1.4 lbs. Jeff has caught HSB up to 8 lb class on spinner baits but I tell him, without photo, scale and ruler for documentation – “it’s just another fish story”.
Largest ever on the fly broke me off last week, but “just another fish story”. If anyone challenges me on size and weight of my pond fly rod HSB, I have photo verification.
Jeff is a hardcore largemouth bass fisherman but has become a HSB convert, so I would like to see him get his next hybrid certified for the record since it’s his ponds.

Im going to need to do some research in the records regarding private waters. I'll need the GPS coordinates or at least an address for this pond in order to verify.
...notice winking face icon thing

George, You have worked hard on developing your ponds. I think you should document and record your records. Not for what it would mean to you. But to show others what can be done with the right management.

George, You have worked hard on developing your ponds. I think you should document and record your records. Not for what it would mean to you. But to show others what can be done with the right management. Thanks Scott ... I believe that your and Grady's experience on being firt class striper guides on Texoma has motivaed me to "dare to be different" on pioneering stocking and managing Hybrid Striped Bass in Texas farm ponds ... many folks said it couldn't be done. By the way I had lunch with our old fishin' buddy earlier this week. About the photo documentation of stocking and managing our ponds, I have a slide show that a fisheries professional is going to put on his website - I'll post a link when it's up. A sample is on pondboss.com but I am too embarrased to post it. Thanks again for the compliment - you are class guy. George

I call BS...show some verification I was at George's house yesterday afternoon looking at page upon page upon page of photos, both digital and chemical, of monster fish, largemouth and stripers as well as cats. George may not want to post them for fear of being called boastful but neither should he be called out for his modesty.

I call BS...show some verification George don't BS. George's word is all the verification I need.

I call BS...show some verification George is modest. He is also an internationally known fly angler who has made little posts (with pics) about his ponds on here for well over a year. Add to that the fact some of our members have actually been to his ponds. Do a little research before you call BS. I thought we raised them better in San Antonio. You sound like a California transplant.
FISH ON!!! ummmmm off

Guys, I don't think he was calling out George in that way. I just think he was like all of us who wanted to see photos and calling him out produced photos.

I hope you're right. If MFB were a regular in this section it would have been taken that way, but as far as I know this is his first post in this section. A stranger will normally be taken at face value. Hopefully we can chuck it up to a youthful Indiscretion.

I call BS...show some verification I figured he was just joking or just another person that is "More Feathers than Fish." Besides I think George's photo's more than answered the "BS Call."
