Hugo- Summertime has been the best for us because they are easier to catch due to early/late schooling activity and trolling. I think this time of year the best bet would be one of the main lake humps slabbing or minnows. Around snake island and rocky creek park can be good. Top spot map will help. I will go soon but not this weekend. Let me know when you are going, I might be there. fisher03

From now through the end of April, I usually have good luck fishing from the bank. Just about any point of land at any of the parks, usually early in the morning, the whites will chase shad along the banks. I use shad or ghost minnows on the bottom. You will see alot of people doing this all over the lake. Later in the morning, whites seem to move to deeper water, and you need a boat to find them, but the "humps" between Big Creek Park and Rocky Creek Park are usually marked with lots of boats.

I was on the lake last weekend. Very slow...I hit most of the "humps" and only caught a few. However, there were quite a few people fishing the shores @ Birch Creek Park and doing "ok". I talked with a few of them that did limit out..but it took all day to do so.

People are telling me that the crappie are strong right now..but I was unable to find them.

I will be there weekend after next..trying again.

i fished my favorite bank spot this morning but didn't have much luck. i think the wind affects where the shad are. i did catch about 20 shad in a cast net over several throws but if they are schooling you can catch 100 in a cast. i didn't find any whotes but one nice largemouth. i don't think you can buy shad anywhere but minnows are available at "top of the hill" in somerville on 36 or at the marina.

decided to troll picked up a few toward the end
of the day.We fished between showers & wind pick

If you want you can launch wherever and drive the boat cross the lake to Big Creek Marina and hop out real fast and buy minnows there.........man, WHERE are the whites????

I'll be trying the point at Welch saturday. Some of my friends have luck there often but I never have. One of them went last weekend and caught only 3. But that's enough to fry and drink beer around.

I normally use fresh shad it works for me.Also
using a little chum (soured milo) helps too.

Sorry to hear about the slooow fishing at Somerville. Man I am itching to get out there, but I have tests this week and will be at chilifest this weekend. Hopefully I will get on the lake when the fishing picks up!! Good luck to all and thanks for the reports.
