If so, what can you tell me about how to use one ?

Thanks

Yes.

I used one in an aeration pond on an outfall at a S. TX refinery one time. It was part of a baseline fauna assessment & I think we had a permit.

You might be required to have a special license or permit to use one - I can tell you this, in a 18 foot jon boat it was a pain in the @**!

They are not illegal in the State of Texas as long as they do not exceed the 4 foot width.

How long would a person drag/trawl before pulling it up ?

What boat speed ?

I've heard that they are a waste of time, sounds good, but from what all I've heard, just throw a cast net.

I have never used one personally but I did see someone on Lewisville use one a couple times, During the winter middle of the day. It looked like a good tool for winter because the shad are deep and the water is cold. I threw about 100 times and had about ten shad and got all wet and cold. I saw him pull up the net and it looked like he had 100's. It probably wouldn't be as good in the summer when the shad are closer to the surface and in shallower depths. Just a thought.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
