To us it seems like the past few weeks Hubbard has gotton a lot slower. The fish aren't schoolong as well, they don't stay up as long, etc. Has anyone had any good luck or we on the same page.

Will be on the water Thurday morning. Probably going to troll the whole time. eeks

Thanks,
Red

HunterRed, I wish I could tell you it was better today, but it wasn't. SuperDuck and I helped each other find fish and it was still hard to find them. The three schools we found were by the yatch club, out in the middle between the red barn and Heath, and between the jetty and Heath. I didn't find any schooling after 10:30 or so. I left around 11. The birds weren't any help either. I caught about 15 fish and brought home 4 that were over 13 1/2 inches. When they were up I used a yellow Roostertail and when down a silver rainbow slab or a chartreuse Humdinger. I also caught 2 Hybrids that were 15 and 17 inches. Hope this helps you guys do better tomorrow.

Thanks for the info Birdeye. Sorry ya'll didn't do very well. If we don't find a school early tomorrow, then we are going to troll for the rest of the day. That way we are not wasting gas driving all around the lake.

One of these days Hubbard will get better again. rolleyes

HunterRed, I have been on the water 2 times since Saturday morning. The fishing has all of a sudden gotten real slow.Like Old Birdeye stated the schools have been real small and scattered all over the place. In my last 3 trips I have brought home a total of 17 fish. I hop thie hot weather cools off some and that will bring the fish back to the top of the water. Gene

Champ,
Same here. We haven't come home with a lot of keepers either. Hopefully it will start up good again pretty soon.

Hey guys, have any of yall fished in the evening? I am going Friday afternoon and hope that it is good or at least entertaining. I will be taking my 6 year old out for his first time on a boat and hope that we can find something to make his day.

Billit,
We have never fished Hubbard in the evening but, sometimes I do here good reports about it. One guy caught a good amount of hyrids one evening at the gravel pits. His biggest being 15 pounds eek .

Good luck out there on Firday thumb . We will be out there Thursday morning to try and find them. Be looking for my post for the results.

Thanks,
Red

Billit,
Be glad to help ya'll. The Gravel Pits are a little hard to explain so sorry if I can't get it out. I will list some other spots that have been good in the past for sandies and hybrids.

Gravel Pits: will help if you have a graph because they are actually a shallow pit out in the deep waters. It is located directly parellel of the creek that is closest to the dam. And about a third of the dam's length west. Most maps show a oval shape here. Remember if you have a graph, look for dropoffs in this area. It might help to mark it with a gps once you have found it.

Peanut: the peanut is exactly the same thing as the gravel pits. It is exactly half way down the jetty off the power plant. It also is shown on maps because of the depths in its location. Again a graph will help.

Red Barn: the red barn is really easy to locate. It is located left of the power plant in a cove. Good for trolling or slabbing. You can see this barn from virtually the whole lake.

Robertson Park: fish will often school in front or on the east and west sides of the park.

These are the better spots that have fish. Be looking for boat shows when you go out to the lake. Big huddles of boats. And watch for posts about Hubbard on here and you will learn where these locations are.

If you ever see us my dad, my brother, and I give us a holler. We are in a flatbottom jon boat and are out on most Fridays or Saturdays.

Hope ya'll get some,
Red fish

Well, I have to add my 2 cents worth about the recent fishing at RH. I've had the same experience as you guys, Birdeye & Hunter Red. Small, scattered schools of fish, often times finicky as to what they will hit, and not staying up very long. I think, & I hope it will get better as August plays out, but who knows? I hope to be out there Fri. morning, so maybe we can find some fish.

Somtimes it can be tough out there whenever it is really slow. I also hope it starts to get real good pretty soon. Hope you have good luck Doug tomorrow evening and same to you Billit for Friday.

I was on the lake last night at 5:00pm the lake was like glass. Aparently there was a small storm near the dam area before I got out there, it did cool off a little. My stepson and I drove the lake looking for surfacing action. All fish were caught in front of Rush Creek Yacht club on topwater clear chugbug and 1/4 oz rattletraps. The schools were small and scatterd, up and down quick. Ended the day with 26 total threw all back. I'm in a tan 22' CC yall holler at me next time I'd like to meet some tff'ers.
