After hanging a few hybrids last year, I really found out what those guys are all about. Probablly the hardest fighting freshwater fish I've caught. Do they stay up shallow through april on points and such? What do you guys use as far as lures go? thank you for any info, I hope to give em a go when I get back home.

I will catch fish shallow through out May sometimes... I like to throw soft plastics with light jig heads and topwaters... Call Mike at Moe's Tackle and he will set you up... great prices too.

Is it more of a morning bite or in low light conditions?

Morning and evening. On cloudy days , it starts earlier in the evening and lasts longer in the morning. I prefer jointed redfins crawled on the surface as a topwater bait. My new favorite subsurface is a gold spoon. Many shallow running crankbaits will work. I've heard people refer to this bite as " buzzbait time" , but I have not tried a buzzbait yet. When you find a good spot , it will usually be good this time of year, year after year. I have been working this pattern on Palestine for at least 15 years.
good luck MO

Depending on the light conditions, I'll go from a chartreusse to a white color. Click on the Moe's logo in my sig to check them out

Try spit n image topwater color is white with blue and yellow on it, great fun and action. 1/4 oz spoon will also work good.
