That is the pro-series and weighs and culls for you. The standard grip-n-weigh only weighs fish. The red button is the give away. It's only on the scale with the cull feature.
...just so you don't buy one thinking you bought the other.

I love mine, saves lots of time in tournaments, seems to be built to last.
Search on the site and you'll see several opinions of it.
The culling tag clips are junk, but you can modify them by cutting off the plastic clips and adding the standard stringer clips, takes 5 minutes and works fine.

I have the clips, the scale, and the pliers. All three of them have worked great for me so far.

The scale has worked great for me. I've had no problems at all, once I learned how to use the cull feature with it and not just weigh the fish.

thanks guys, thats what I'm looking for. I've also had problems with my tags and although I really like the gripping feature, i've just had alot of problems. not only coming off the lip, but i have also had a couple of the plastic rivits in the center if the gripper come out as well so I'm about to the point where I want to modify mine like everyone else. I was just hoping if i bought this i wouldnt be dissapointed in the gripping feature of the scale as well and that it would stand the test of time.

John,
As you can see, I changed my post. The answer to your question is simple, for the reasons I outlined in the first response to this post. Without the red button, it won't have a cull feature. You'll have to weigh the fish and write down the weight of each one, manually culling them. The culling feature will keep track of how ever many fish you tell it you're allowed (5 in Texas) and then as you weigh each fish, it tells you which numbered tag fish to release and replace with the new one. Either will work. One is just simpler to use.
The gripping feature works great. The heavier the fish, the harder it grips. Several brands use this same type of grip, including BogaGrips and it works great. You won't have a fish wiggle free using that type of gripping system.

Thanks Kelly. Something that peaked my curiosity is that yesterday I watched Kelly Jordan on Fork in a Classic Patterns Show. He used one and I liked what I saw. Your post addresses my questions. I have grown weary of my Rapala scale and I really don't like "hook hanging" to weigh a fish. I do like the lip grip feature of the X-Tool and the culling memory.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

I have had one of these scales for a year now and it is just GREAT. The only draw back is the large plastic viewing window and the fact that it will get scratched up and make the numbers hard to see. So when you get yours do like I did and get a crown royal bag or something like that to keep it in and protect the viewing window and the unit it's self.
