Sliding down to Rockport for a bachelor party/funeral in two weeks and bringing the kayaks to hit Copano.
Anybody have anything good to say recently? Reds liking the N/NW wind still? Rising or falling tides on drop-offs? Black Drum bite still on? Flounder movement? How deep are the specs?

Reds are where you find them. Your either on'em or ur not. Easy limits when you locate them. Falling tides are the ticket. Black drum seem to be the target as of late. I know guy's fishin' slot uglies that wouldn't normally give them the time of day. Specks mostly on drop-offs in deeper water with temps hovering around 50F. Flounder?!? What flounder?

Water is very low in copano, atleast towards the back, i fished sun the 14th, very shallow and very muddy, would rec. structure out in aransas bay, put in at copano bay bridge and head out to aransas, fish oil rigs, and reefs, should hit a bunch of good black drum. They are fighting like crazy.
WATCH OUT FOR THE J.T. HOOKSET!!!

Fished Copano Sat. 13th, it was dead!!! no wind and low tide. If the winds pick up I would hit the reefs in mid-bay...good luck.

Wind kicked up bad and churned it up pretty good. Tides never flipped the color back. One ray and a couple of hardheads to report. Had fun doing it though. Thanks all for the updates.

I'm headed down this weekend. Forecast isn't very impressive. Looks like copano will be its usual mud color. Anyone connect on any reds? what are ya'll throwing?
We had luck a month ago in the sun (even though it was windy), with pumpkinseed salt assassin's and plum. I've hear a few are throwing gulps under mansfeild maulers with some luck.
Anyone have any ideas where to find some fish in these areas with the high wind?

Wow, what a weekend. Friday, 20 MPH winds, we found cover fishing in the north shore, newcomes bend and turtle pen. We managed to find two hungry flounder (16"&19"). Saturday morning was fairly calm, then the frontal boundry came through and we got HAMMERED (with wind and rain...then whiskey). Prior to mother nature kick our butts, we picked up three quality specs (one 20"). After the front blew through, we threw on the waders and went out. Waded in front of the homes between kontiki and royal oaks. Picked up one 26" red fish.
Given the conditions and AWFUL water, 6 fish wasn't all that bad.
EVERY BITE was on 4" plum shad (salt assassin). Jigged at a medium pace, over packed sand and scattered shell.
