Tried to update my software. Done everything according to instructions but when the unit went to restart, it never restarted. It just says loading. I left it for 4hours and it still showed loading. It would not turn off or anything. So i unplugged it and need to know what to do now.

Call Humminbird at 1-800-633-1468 after 8am central time. They can help.

Thanks! Bobcat, I called them this morning and the unit must be sent in to be fixed. I hope they get it back soon. I love my bird and miss it already.

Before you send it in try to power it up again. I have heard of this one other time. The guy decided to try it again before he sent it in. Power up and try the software install again and let me know.

I done sent the unit in. I rushed it to the post office like it was an emergency. Thanks and I will report the outcome as soon as I find out or get it back

WOW! I got an Email Friday from Humminbird. The unit is on its way back to me already. They must have fixed it as soon as it arrived and got it back in the mail the same day.

I had a great experience with Eddie @ Humminbird, My 997 would not update because it had older software and did not recognize the new Hd SD Cards (Eddie told me this) I sent it in on Tuesday, they got it Wednesday, fixed it, and I had it back Thursday morning at 10Am, Superb customer service. I will be a bird lover for a while!!!

Got my unit back today. Quick turnaround and just in time for Toledo Bend This week, and Rayburn this weekend. I'm Happy!

That answers a question that I was going to ask Eddie. I was curious if my HB798 would function with the HDSD, but apparently they will not. I almost picked one up the other day, but now I'm glad I did not waste my money. I guess it will only accept and read the older style SD, glad to find this out.
