Don't think that they are here yet,,,,,,well, they said a 80 something pounder was found dead a Mineral Wells State Park, which I find hard to believe,,,,,,,, they are FILTER FEEDERS. and not caught via conventional carp methods

see here

Yeah it could be fun, but I'm bothered by this article.

For one, they say grass carp are the ones responsible for the injuries sustained by boaters due to jumping fish. Strike 1.

And yet another of these articles where no distinction is made at all to separate the common (or grass for that matter) carp from the Asian carp scourge. Strike 2.

I have no problem with the culling of the Asian carp in and of itself, they are a huge issue and the problem is getting bigger every day. Heck, I think it would be great fun to snag them and fight them.

But it also bothered me where it said catfish and buffalo were also being snagged. What would be the justification there? They aren't native? Yes, what these people are doing is in no way illegal and the actual act of the snagging and removal is way less offensive to me than the shoddy journalism.

Not getting on you at all Ketamine, I'm just tired of these ignorant news reports.

One of the Missions of the LSCB should be the education on the un-informed,,,,,,, the "grouping" of ALL carp under one umbrella is a real bad reflection of what we fish for !

With all the boats out in the water shooting their shotguns, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that river!

There is a rig for these fish, I've seen an illustration before of it. What I can remember is that there was a larger float, and below it there was some sort of 'spreader' that looked like a coat hanger with multiple hooks below it. With the massive numbers of these fish concentrated in our waters, I imagine snagging (as unethical as it is.) is probably the best method, but damn 92 Pounds!!!

There is also a Bighead Carp record from below denison dam. If one was taken below Texoma, there are probably more.

As for the snagging, it might be legal in that state. As an example it is legal to snag non game fish in Oklahoma.

Yep. They were draining the lake and had only a large pool about an olympic swimming pool sized. I know the guy that caught that. It's mounted in his bait shop. The thing is HUGE!!!!

snagging non-game fish was legal in texas ... not real sure when they changed the law ... of course as one poster said above, snagging fish is morally wrong rolfmao
