welp, while i was fighting the last fish of the day today, he managed to exact revenge on me by wrapping up one of my lines pretty good. i took it home and worked on it for a while but it was useless, i ended up having to cut off half a spool of line from the reel. (brand new line i might add! ) my question is, can i just tie on a new line to the end of whats left on the reel, end to end with a blood knot or is that just stupid? i dont wanna re-spool the whole dang thing again, nor do i want a knot somewhere in the middle of my casting range! http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/i...imatedknots.comaside from the apperent potential for that knot to fail with a fish on, and the loss of distance on casting, are there any other issues i should worry about with tying on a new line, mid-spool? I TRIED TO KEEP IT CLEAN. THIS IS WHAT I HAD TO DEAL WITH. AND WHEN IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE MY REEL WAS HALF A SPOOL LIGHTER!

Hahaha I'm not laughing at you it's just that's one hell of a mess! I've been there with braid. A Blood Knot, Or Albright Knot should be fine; However I guess it's more important to ask whether or not you have mono backing, or are you just spooling with braid?

I've been fishing with braid for some time now and have had issues with it also Chris. I hope you don't mind me hijacking a little here, but since were kinda on the subjuct. What are some non braided lines I can trust to not break below their stated lb. test and are great lines in general?

I sometimes think braid was just a confidence thing for me.

braid is great in certain situations but can be a nightmare when it gets tangled. I prefer mono mainline and a mono shock leader. Some people don't like the stretch mono gives but I'd rather deal with that that being sliced by a rock or have it snap off and a hard cast.

i almost bought sufix instead of the power pro but i couldnt get past the price!
thanks for the replies, ill just go ahead and add more line right onto the end.
and its all braid, no mono backer, i may consider filling up the reel halfway with mono next time though, i cant afford to be doing this once every two trips!
