I caught this fly fishing.. Not huge, around 7-8 inches. Any guesses?

Looks just like a perch to me. Perch are all different colors. I am sure there is a name for it but to me just a perch.

Looks like a standard bluegill with the big mouth of a green sunfish. Got a bit of a longer earflap then the average bluegill, almost like a longear but without the white edging.

Possibly a hybrid of some kind. Pretty fish either way!

Bluegill in my book. Might have been the offspring of a bluegill/greenie hybrid, but that is rare outside of help from our friends at fisheries managment. That fish is gonna be even more beautiful when they spawn!

Yes it is a creek, it's called Pecan Creek if I'm not mistaken.. Flows under a road called DingDong. If you're not far from Ft. Hood I'll be glad to send you a map/directions. That river has its ups and downs, when there is plenty of sunshine plenty of fish.. 1 day of rain ruins it, not sure if it's like that everywhere.. If you want to come be prepared for a lot of walking smile
