What do you all use if you are going for whites in deep water...say 25-30 feet.....do you change if you are going shallow for spawn fish in creeks

I use 15 lb on the lake because of the hybrids lurking about.

When I fished the Neches, I used 8 lb because of the small
roadrunner I threw.

I use 12 lb mono line. I've landed big hybrids, giant carp and 30+ lb flatheads with it. The most important thing to do is constantly check for frays on the line from where the lure is tied on to about 24" up. Any little knicks or imperfections, greatly weaken the line, so take a minute to re-tie. It will save you the heartache of hooking into that 10+ lb hybrid, only to watch it swim off with your lure frown

Like Nitro, I use 12 lb. line...Berkley Big Game. Also, like Nitro says, re-tie when any frays or rough places occur....and check your drag setting!

+1 the Berkley Big Game, toughest line out there. Minimum of 15# on the lake.

On the lake, #12 Berkley Big game, in the rivers and creeks, if it's stained (2 foot or less visibility) I use #8, if clear I use #6.

I use 12 lb Berkley Big Game for Hybrids on the lake and I check for frays and rough spots often and re-tie when needed.

All my Abu's get 15# Ande premium or Big Game. Both in clear. (whichever one I can find in 1 lb or bigger spool). Both lines seem to work well if you chech for damage, as stated above. I run 10# on the spinning reels. All my drags are set at three pounds and constantly checked. 1/3 line test. Good drag and fresh line will get the big un's to the net.

12 or 15lb Big Game, unless I a slabbing then I use 4 lb, tends to give the baits more action, and I love being true sportsman and fighting the fish.

12 on baitcasters and 10 braid on spinning reels... tends to get less line twist laugh
