great job skeeter! you should have fished the state championship. you could have clearly won the 3 day tourney with any one day of fishing. next time I'll finish my homework. good luck on "The Dead Sea" in your upcomming tourney

Skeeter Chris, All i can say is YOUR THE MAN, you would have run away with this tourney with ease> There were over 220 people out there this week and not a single person had numbers of what you speak of. You have them nailed for sure, Please post your tourney results and how that tourney fairs and i wil lbe impressed to say the leats. THEY HAVE stopped pulling water now so it should be a really good time by the 27th but this week once again YOU WOULD BE THE MAN.I did stumble on a little pattern late on day 3 that i think would have made a diffrecne but it was too late by then so good luck fella

I didnt think it was that tough either Chris. I had some good bass early this week and last, including a 3.5 lb smallie.

Sorry for all of you who did not enjoy our lake. I love Lake Belton and it is far from my "Dead Sea" List.

"Dead Sea" I couldn`t agree more. Nice boat ramps-check,ample parking-check,decent population of bass, well you decide. I am voting with my wallet, no more dink fest tourneys for me. my .02

Just got back after a couple of days down there. Had planned to stay through Sunday but weather changed our minds. Caught mostly small fish with a few good fish showing up each day. I hope the Federation guys made out ok today?

Got home late last night from the Top 6 as well. Belton is not a "Dead Sea"...but it has been pretty beat up lately. Add the facts that it snowed there 3 weeks ago, the lake was 10' high, then was dropped 12 feet to it's current 2 feet low, Bass Champs pounding 'em out there 3 weeks ago, the Fed. West Region there 2 weeks ago, the Fed. Southeast Region there last Saturday, the State Juniors there last Sunday, and 220 of the state's Federation "high-end" anglers there for 3 days this past week. The fish are there...just not in any conventional patterns. If you have blue skies, try down-sizing with finess rigs (shakey heads and drop shots). Overcast skies, try medium cranks and c-rigs. Hit all of the main lake points that the wind will allow. Secondary points might pay off for you as well.
I caught over 30 fish but only managed 7 keepers in that mix during the Top 6. All of the keepers came off of either the drop shot, shakey head, or c-rig. The fish that you find on one day will probably not be there the next. The fish are on the move. That's the main reason that a lot of good sticks pulled "zeros" after respectable sacks the day before. Stay with it and if you get bit, work that area over pretty good. You're gonna have to weed out the smaller fish to catch a keeper or two. Good Luck.

Instead of downsizing we threw bigger baits and had good succes on a 1/2 football jig with a spacemonkey or hyper freak as a trailer.

Baswacker, Belton is tough right now.but next week could be desent at most. This cold front will mess thinks up for a few days but It's just a matter of time before the bite will improve. My opinion is the buck bass cant wait to "do their thing" and with a warm week ahead combined with the full moon, next weekend should be the start of an awesome couple of months of good springtime fishin. Not sure what the weather is supposed to be like next weekend but as long as we dont get another bad arse cols front like we did today, this is what I would do. Target the points and cuts across from Rogers park, Owl creek, Cedar ridge, three fingers should also be good. Good luck.

GUYS YALL DID NOT DO YOUR HOMEWORK, I HAVE BEEN FISHING FOR THE PAST 8 DAYS ON BELTON AND HAVE BOATED MORE THAN 10 BASS PER DAY. ALL HAVE BEEN OVERS, BETWEEN 4 AND 8# THE LARGEST WAS 8.36#. IM NOT GOING TO TELL YA WHERE THEY ARE, BUT THEY ARE BEWEEN 8 AND 3 FEET IN MUDDY WATER. WATER TEMP WAS 61-62. I ALSO HAVE A TOURNAMENT COMMING UP. i would also like to see your tournament results and i can promise you that some of the top sticks in the state did their homework while fishing the state championship.

Someone needs to make sure that skeeter Chris gets into the Elites cause he's a great story teller. You must be the best fisherman in Texas catching fish like that but I wonder why you werent in the tournament.
I just HATE LIARS!!
