I fish just about every weekend, but not this weekend. I was setting in traffic on 68-96 North bound Thursday stopped and a lady talking on cell phone didn't see traffic stopped and rear ended me! She never hit the brakes!! They estimated impact to be 55-65 mph.! I got an expedited trip to ER. Truck is trash!!! The wrecker had to pull her SUV from under my truck. I have jacked up back and neck and knees. How do I know she was on cell phone? She admitted it to the police. At least she had insurance!! I am glad she or her passenger wasn't hurt.

Buddy, I am in the same situation as you right now. I was on interstate 49 out of Shreveport when an 18 wheeler blew a tire and the tire flew through my windshield, hit me and destroyed the roof of my tundra. Got my face, arms and head cut up and a good bruise from the tire hitting me in the chest..Have Bass Champs next weekend and I'm trying to find a truck to be able to pull my boat down to Rayburn. Glad you are ok!!!

Until they make it illegal to use a cell phone in a moving vehicle, this is going to continue to happen and hundreds of people are going to get killed needlessly every year!!!!!!!

Hey Snappedswivel,You may have a hard time geting her insurance to pay for your truck until you sign a medical release. This is a strongarm tactic used by insurance companies to get a quick settlement from you.I would not sign such a release for at least six months.I my self think its dishonest to file a claim for medical damges which you really don't have,if thats the case.BUT even if think you are okay don't sign a release. If they refuse you then have an lawyer set up a meeting with the ajuster and tell the adjuster straight to his face this. "I don't have any intention of sueing you or continueing to see a doctor at your expense. But I need at least six months to make sure I am alright. In the meanwhile I want you to pay for my truck."If he says no turn to your lawyer and tell your lawyer to tell the adjuster that you intend to sue for 500k if your truck isn't paid for in 5 days. That will get their attention. It worked for me.You get your truck paid for quickly and the insurance company actually is better off.I DO NOT ADVOCATE SUEING AN INSURANCE COMPANY FOR DAMAGES THAT DID'T HAPPEN.THAT IS STEALING AND KARMA IS A BEOTCH !

PS..If you must get a lawyer to do this....make them pay for the lawyer visit also!

When I was adjusting claims on the casualty side we always paid the vehicle off first, and settled the medical later. sends the wrong message and gets too many people lawyered up too fast.

There are some good insurance companies out there..., some.

I will be back. I'm never truly gone.....Last post by Brad RIP

Good luck man. I have never got an even settlement from an insurance company when damage to a vehicle was involved. Something to remember, if a vehicle is damaged in a wreck, no matter how well it is fixed, it is worth about 30% less than the same vehicle that has not been wrecked. I have never been able to get insurance to pay a penny of the lost value of a vehicle.

To me that is wrong.

funny that talking/texting on a phone is far more dangerous than drinking and driving yet it's legal.. Anyone wanna explain to me why? Govt really should pull the head out of the arse on this and make it illegal!

I hope y'all have a quick and total recovery. Things haven't been good 'round here and the fishin' ceased. Totaling a motorcycle with Mrs. S on it with me was in the middle somewhere. We are both OK though. We will be fishin' the Elliott tomorrow. Maybe this will be a new start of a lot of time on the water.

Good luck and safe fishin'!!!!

their insurance will be responsible for your temporary rental car, just make it a rental truck. or rental SUV.
