I wish

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

We were running away from snapper all freakin day. Started the day trying to drift fish for kings, but that didn't last long, b/c there were people that did not know how that was supposed to work and got a whole mess of ppl knoted up. I casted larger spoons off the back of the boat with no success. Usually no hits on spoon = no kings. There were more snapper and sharks landed than I care to remember. There was one Warsaw hooked AND landed that weighed about 50lbs give or take a few. I hooked up twice on a grouper on a hammered diamond jig and got broke off both times. Broke off the main line, 65lb tuffline xp the first time and 80lb daiwa boat braid the second.

I hooked up with something, most likely an amberjack on a knifejig and had it break off as well. I had gear failure all day really. I hooked up with the amberjack on a quantum cabo 60 and the anti-reverse broke on the reel.

I didn't bring any fish home, but I caught about 25 snapper from 2-20lbs (all thrown back) and I gave away a shark, a mackeral, and a hardtail.

?????? hmmm got any pics of that? cause I've replaced Cabo (spinner) anti reverses more than I care to mention & there's no spring.....
It's a magnetic 1-way roller brg.

John, I bet you were heavy jigging with that -60, weren't you? gimme a holler, I got a few extra's grin

haha actually no Brian. I was jigging 200g max with the cabo. Most of the time I was just dropping lucanus jigs, but when I did put on a 220 g hammered diamond jig I didn't speed jig. Mostly yoyo jigging and it still gave on me.

Honestly Brian, I think I'm going to stick to shimano and daiwa now. My goal this trip was to see how far I could take the cabo w/o it breaking. I found out I guess. The biomaster however performed flawlessly for most of the day. It's the perfect "budget" reel to go with any 200-300g jigging rod.

It was my Cabo, next time i go out to my lake house I'll get it and tell you how i did it, i can't rember off the top of my head. But there is a spring that is part of the rev... I have had great luck with mine i have caught every thing from reds to a 6ft bull shark. But i guess you never know when something is going to break.
Sorry "IgotSNAGGED" i didn't reread the top when i posted
