I have a 91 2oo HP Merc that my alarm keeps going off on.My water pressure gauge isn't working, but my water stream seems to be o.k.Sometimes on startup,it sputters, the waterstream,is this something serious I should check out?I just bougt the boat and the guy said he just had the impeller changed.I can put it in neutral and it stops. Will an alarm go off if the pressure gauge isnt working?Im going to also make sure I don't have something stopped up in the line preventing good flow also.If it sounds like it needs an impeller, anybody have any suggestions on where to go?Thanks in advance!

you might try SPANKYS, or take it to Fun N Sun in Cleburne. I believe the head mechanic over there is a racing nut, and knows his stuff.

If you move at a slow speed, does it beep or go off ?

Check your water fuel sep. filter. It probably has water in it.

Thanks for the info.guys will check the water fuel sep.filter Tommy.Strokin,it runs for about 2 mins.on plane then goes off, then I can stop, put it in neutral,it goes off, then it's fine with the exception it came on one more time ,once.I loaded it,cause I didnt want to hurt anything.
I just read about an alarm on a 175 going off and it had to do with the oil reservoir and being airtight.I will check that also. Thanks!

If it only does it on plane, then you probably need an impellor (water pump) installed or your motor is setting too high on the boat and needs to be lowered. Smith Boat Sales in Windthorst can help you out.

continous beep, didn't think about motor setting too high,it does have a Jackplate and I'm turning a 5 blade prop.

continous beep. Heat problem.......

Put a complete water pump kit in it. OEM not aftermarket. Its a little more pricey but its tha COOLIN' system. Used motor probably need it anyway and you will know its good.......

As far as tha JP. You never start movin' a JP unless ya got a water pressure guage. So if you have done this, it may very well be your problem............

I haven't touched the JP,it does have a water gauge, but it's not working. It did when we test drove it though,if the pressure gauge isnt working will that cause the alarm to go off, even though nothing's wrong?I agree with a new impeller ,just so I know it's been done!

the water guage shouldn't have anything to do directly with the alarm, it sounds like it got stopped up or came undone from the T under the cowl. water guage is a fairly cheap fix and you should have one with the jp.

Faulty guage won't cause tha problem. Change tha complete water pump, not just tha impeller. Tha housing and tha ride plate wear out too even thought they MIGHT look good as new.............

Seems like tha last one I bought was 50 ta 60 bucks for tha "kit". Been awhile since I bought it though. Tha dealers are pretty pricey on parts n install nowadays. Call Spanky (David). Probably your best bang for tha dollar.........
