So sad. Had to come back a day early because of a blown lower unit but what a blast. By ourselves, my brother and I caught several Sunday afternoon in Schoolbus cove, mostly 2-4 pound bucks, in 6 ft water out away from the brush. Monday was a little slower starting off on the Mexican side but finished up the day great in Pierce coves on the American side. We were catching them tighter to the brush in 9 ft water. Ended the day with several 2-4 pounders and 2 over 6. Tuesday was a no go after trying to leave OSO only to have what we thought was a spun hub but turned out to be a fully blown lower unit. So we hooked up with Dave Mauldin for a half day trip Wednesday morning and HE WAS ON THEM. In about 3.5 hours we caught 13 total with several 7-8 pounds and one close to 9 as the last fish of the day. If you can get down there, do it quick. Brother with 7lb Me with a 6lb My bro smoked me, his 6th Wednesday Ending with Mr. Big

Never hit anything but got into a net on Tuesday but didn't think there was a problem. When we dropped the lu it was full of water so obviously something happened. Could have been a coincidence but it seemed odd happening the day after the net incident. Will plan to have a spare with us next year.

Most of these definitely were post spawn caught on 25ft ledge just down from a spawning area. Most of the guys indicated there was still a few up shallow but the bigger ones seemed to be already done.

Nice fish!!
Dave's a cool guy. I didn't know he was guiding down there.

I'll bet the lower unit failing was related to the net incident. Speaking from experience, the line will compromise the lower unit seal. Sucks big time!
