Nice post troutbum. Well said. Looks like you made that kid's day for sure.
Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, he'll be gone every weekend.

thats awesome troutbum. I haven't gotten a chance to fish the area yet even though I have spent the majority of my last two years in hill county working in the oilfield. I too have only met the nicest people happy that we are coming to town. Who knows how many bacon cheeseburgers I have bought from FatCatz and how many tanks of gas I have bought from the Shell in Covington (breakfast sandwiches are great there). Coming from a tourist town (New Orleans) I always loved it when I could share the little secrets that outsiders would have drove right past. Then again its not hard to understand where he may have been coming from. There aren't too many places to fish in the immediate area and a (local) may feel that his hometown fishing spot is getting overrun. Its kind of a double edged sword when it comes to this sort of topic. I met Budd on here (a local) and he even offered to show me around next time I come around. Nice guy there.
Keep those lines tight!

I really don't mind people coming out to the river,, if someone did not tell me I wouldnt know about it, people on the bank have respect for boaters and boaters do likewise... my only bitch is the people who carry in loads of food, coolers, beer cans etc.... get off your lazy &^$&& and carry the SH** out...you are the ones that make all of look like trash litter ally,,,,,

yeah Budd, not trying to put you on the spot, is an awesome guy, and probably the most knowledgeable guy i know about the sport. he has helped me improve my cast, which was horrible, inroduced me to fenwick flishing rods, which i love now, and has been a great friend. thanks budd. we do have a difference of opinion, but we don't let that seperate the friendship. he has his view, and i have mine. kind of like how this post is. everyone has their own view.

Amen, well said trout bum. And yall are right please carry your trash out, and somebody elses to if need be, so this place doesn't end up like rowlett creek. I'd say it's right at a mile upstream this year to the better spots. Better than most years. The walk in's never too bad it's the walk out that sucks. Even if your caryin' fish they get burdensome after a while.

Trout bum, Trout Bum, Trout Bum...what can I say...?? LOL. I agree that most people fishing the Nolan are great, but there's always one old grouch (I know, he yelled at me last Saturday). As for supporting the local economy, I stop at the Convenience Store in Blum and have eaten at the Restaurant on the corner of Tx933, but prefer the Burger Bar in Cleburne. Awesome burgers. Last trip, I pulled out about 20 yds of 50lb mono and some kind of white jiggy/wiggly tailed thing that was lodged in some rocks out in the middle of the River. I do wish people would carry out their TRASH and not just dump it on the banks where I have to look at it. Why is this? Beats the crud out of me why fisherfolks (mainly bait people) have to litter? I'd like to drown then...sigh.
Better go today, cause it's gonna snow on Saturday../!!!
Fish safe. See all ya'll on the River somewhere.
