Could not resist the weather and had to get out to Lewisville today for the first time in a few weeks. I was suprised how far the water level has dropped in such a short time. I was running from the 121 cut across the lake toward twin poles when I noticed a little bird action and had to slow down to invesitgate. As soon as I did, I hit a stump. Slowly making my way west, I came across three stumps only inches underwater and all about 2 feet in diameter in 43 feet of water. These things are in the middle of the lake in deep water!!!! I have been on Lake Lewisville dozens if not hundreds of times and have never seen such a unmarked danger (unless we include holiday weekends). These stumps would absolutely put a end to your week if not worse. I marked the logs with the only item I had present (since I had just cleaned clutter out of my boat) which was a empty bright colored suntan lotion container and a white bag. Coordinates are 33.05.536 96.57.949 if anyone has the opportunity to mark this hazard. These are in an area in which I never imagined they would be - I always thought the larger trees where on the north end of the lake. As I left the area, I noticed a large yellow and white runabout and a mid sized center console hauling just feet from this hazard. I am aware of the large quantity of stumps on this lake, but the size of these makes these an awakening. Be careful!!!!

I have personally donated two props to the lake. One was my fault, one was in the middle of the lake in an area I had run hundreds of times. Where is the rain????

Several years ago, when the lake was ove 14 ft low, you could see all the HUGE trees in the main lake on the east side. It was amazing how many there are! Unfortunantly I did not have a GPS capable of marking those trees or I would have. If you venture east of the marker bouys in the middle of the lake, be careful. There are also a lot of trees out from the Lake Dallas spillway. Be careful there as well. The South Lake Dallas cut is almost impassable now. I dinged my prop up there on a rock the other day. The North LD Cut is fine.

We need some rain bad but I think the lake is in good shape for October - I've seen it a lot worse. Some of the other lakes around here are a lot worse off like Tawakoni and Benbrook. We should get up to normal level or above by spring - no problem. I've completely stopped running out in the middle of the main lake although I see people doing it all the time. Mostly the big cruiser and go-fast boats that don't know any better - they'll learn the hard way. For me it's idle only out in that area now and I try not to even get out there in it too much It's just not worth it. I've seen what that area looked like before they raised the lake level 8' back in that late 80's. Most people would be amazed. They used to have that whole area buoyed off with an east-west and north south lines of buoys. Those buoys are pretty much all gone now. The trees that are left out there are HUGE and can ruin your day in a heartbeat.
