That's interesting but not surprising about the mercury in the fish, yes those are counties that are down river from the lake palestine spillway so i guess our fish are safe...

Where does the Neches run to from the Lake Palestine area? does it go to another lake on it's way south to Sabine Lake?

It does go to another lake. From lake palestine it crosses Hwy 175 and flows south forming the border of Anderson/Cherokee counties. Southwest of Lufkin it bends more to the east and is dammed to form Lake Steinhagen. Below that lake it flows south through the big thicket down to Beaumont and into the gulf.

I am going today. Hope to put a big one in the cooler. HeadsRtails Call me and I would be happy to show you what I know about the fishing at TB. Maybe a few others would like to go also. We can fish the river during the day and top water fish for the stripers at nite.I can say that when the fish are biting it can be great fishing. these fish will or should be good for another week or so.Need to go while still generating cause when they stop fishing is tough.

Hit the river yesterday evening for about 3 hours. Caught 7 keepers. The bite has really fallen off!

Thats how you got to do it. I've talk to several people thats been down there....they will tell me that they just are not having much luck. I can't say enough....you've got to work your baits Low and Slow. You are not going to catch many .... reeling your baits across the upper half of the water column. Some folks just some how don't understand this.
