I talked to my neighbor yesterday. He fishes Reimers often. He told me he and his buddy limited out again last Thursday. He uses minnows. I have yet to fish for white bass this year. My work schedule has me 7 days/ week. This work couldn't have come at a worse time. I feel a sick day comming on next week. Probably Wed or Thurs. LOL. I don't know if I'm going to Reimer's or Lake Somerville (Yegua creek). All I know is I've got to get out somewhere. I hope the upcoming rains don't move the spawn backwards again like the cold fronts did. I'll be in a white '09 GMC. Holler if you see me.

tight lines...

I might just have to get out there this eve with the overcast skies like they are.

It's more than the catfish would do.

What road goes to Reimers Ranch? I see a hamilton pool park and Pedernales Falls SP but that is it. Am I in the right area?

monday's weather forcast was horrible - 90% rain. perfect way to beat the crowds. got down there about 1:30 and only saw 2 other folks, both fishing below the rapids. fished around the 2 stumps directly below the rapids and caught 5. threw them all back because they seemed so small. the yegua really spoils you when it comes to size. moved upstream. caught fish everywhere i threw.
nothing too exciting, a fish every 5-10 minutes. started measuring them to make sure they were legal. most were right at 12". ended up with 20 which is about all i could manage walking back up the hill with gear and fish. it was slick. forget about driving down there if you are in a car. the ruts look to be 2ft deep down at the bottom. the experience reminded me of trout fishing in colorado. crystal clear water. beautiful scenery and ultra light tackle. love it when you hook one and see 7-8 of its mates dashing around your fish to see what all the excitment is about.

Fished this am, 3-11-2010. Caught 25 (all males) between 8:30 and 11:30 with 16 being keepers, 1-12" spotted bass too. All caught on white spinner in the rapids. Water clear and cool. Lost the stringer with 8 fish on it when struggling with the current, hopefully someone will find it and the fish before they die. Not a good way to end the morning.

You're close. Google - Travis County parks - Reimer's Ranch for directions. or www.co.travis.tx.us

Thanks, I think I can get there now. I'll go during the week next week to try and avoid the spring breakers.

This place sounds good, I'm new to the forum and glad I stubled onto here. I'm in north Austin, I might try and check this place out tomorrow if the weather clears up. I've been looking for good public places to fish in the Austin area that I can get to on foot since I don't have a boat.

Someone mentioned rough roads/muddy conditions, will I be alright in a 2wd truck? As long as there's somewhere to park, I don't mind walking long distances and hiking to the river.

you can get in easily with 2wd truck. If your worried about steep, wet, muddy road, park at the top of the hill and walk down, not a far walk to the water.
