Been fishing some gravel pits and man made tanks. Wanted yalls advice on what to throw this time of year.

I've found that a red lipless crankbait like a Rattle Trap or Rattlin' Spot works well depending on water clarity. If that doesn't work, slow things down and try a plastic worm or crawdad in a 'red shad' color. I'm sure some others will chime in but that's been my experience at some private ponds I fish in Wise County. Good luck!

Any thing you would throw at a lake If I fish a pond I alwasy start with a lipless crank then spinner or chatterbait . Early morning or late evening I throw a buzzbait and if it's slow I throw a Texas rig and if I wanna catch a bunch of small fish I throw a rooster tail or drop shot.Also wacky worm or just normal senko twitched right under the water.

Spinnerbaits always served me well, shallow cranks and worms aren`t too bad either.

Good suggestions! I'm heading back out to do some pond fishing on Thursday and will try some of the small Cordell 'Super Spots' I picked up at Bass Pro during their sale last week

Was on a private lake 2 weeks ago and they were killing Grandebass rattlesnakes and mutants.

Went to a pond in oklahoma and caught 15 little guys on a popper and on a t rigged power worm. But lipless cranks are good. Guess and check man.

In a tank throw anything,a bubble gum wrapper will work.

The pond I've been going to I've thrown chartreuse/silver spinners and worms. I've been slayin' them! They are super fat and ready to spawn! Good luck...I think Friday will be the best day with the warm weather and a front moving in.....However, Thursday will be tasty to!

+1 I have good luck with medium sized square bill crank baits as well. IMO, ponds are good for what I call "idiot baits." talkin about stuff you can just chunk and wind.

wacky worms catch fish anywhere. Use greens, like watermelon, watermelon/red, junebug, green pumpkin, motoroil...you get the idea.

I've been having good luck lately in a community pond with creature baits (TX and C rigged) for the bigger fish. I can slow fish a plastic so much better by C-rigging. People will look at you like you're crazing pond fishing with a C-rig until you pull out the biggest fish they've ever see. Pond fish spawn too, so the fat sows are gorging right now too get ready. TX77091 is right, for #'s stay small. I bet I've caught a million pond fish on a beetle spinner. I like lipless cranks too and my buddy has been killing the dinks lately on small Tsunami prerigged swim baits and roadrunners.
All time go to bait in ponds is the beetle spinner for #'s and texas rigged anything for bigger fish.
Best advice I ever got for fishing ponds was from an article in BASS about 8 months, fish the bank, fish the bank, fish the bank. Most ponds the only structure is the bank so fish parallel to bank alot.

A small Texas rigged soft plastic and a small grub on a jig head is the ticket. I prefer soft plastic frogs, tubes, ring frys, and 4 inch power worms. 1/8 oz. sinker, 2/0 wide gap hook. For your grub worm, a 1/8 oz. jig head and Kalin grub will do just fine. My favorite stock tank colors are black, purple, and red. These lures have caught fish in stock tanks my whole life (28 years)
