Get some big marvs 5-15 ft deep off the penisula by the first boat ramp. Cats are hot any where in the lake.

Back in the day, when me and my friends would spend many nights camping out at Cally, I would take an ultra light rod and fish for perch right before sundown. I would toss a live perch out there under a lit bobber, and I would catch some decent fish. Big cats, fat hybrids, and even a stray red (I didn't know that reds eat bream, but I've caught a few on live perch.....about 4 back in the day). Something to add if you will be bank fishing and have your lines out. It adds variety, and it's a blast, I think. Thought I would make the suggestion. Good luck! Steven

You can get it at the Lighthouse convenience store as you turn off 1604 to go to Calaveras.

i picked up some big marvs, shrimp, worms, and danny kings and tried my luck. my wife caught a 2-3lb channel and my son caught a rio grande ciclid, me and my daughter struck out. while we were fishing we started talking to someone who happend to be selling an old 14ft john boat w/trailer and 18 hp merc for $800. so i ended up geting it but have been too busy to gey it on the water. hopefully soon.

Still sounds like a good fishing trip, and congrats on the boat.

FYI, they sell Big Marv's at Leon's Ice House on W.W.White near Rigsby. Just across the street from Big Lou's.
