Guys, I am frustrated with the level of customer service at Lowrance and wanted to publically announce them:
Wanted to give you a heads up: I am now on my 5th GPS puck for my NMEA 2000 Networked LMS525 and LXC27 setup on my boat. This is due to the fact that the puck is not ESD protected and static electricity can blow the puck However, the network when connected has created more of these issues and found that if I disconnect the network, I have no issue. This sucks as I paid money for this network feature.
Background: Lowrance Tech Support (after waiting on line from 45-90 min) has suggested on several occasions that I need to double check the installation, test with a volt meter for voltage, and only then when I have completed these tasks (tricks), would they consider sending me a new puck. However, if I wanted to spend $279 they would send one right out.
Well after having my 5th puck go and am tired of performing Customer Service "tricks"; I performed research and found that this is a known issue amoungst users to which Lowrance Customer Service has refused to acknowledge any issue. Yet they now have replacment GPS pucks with black connectors and ESD labels.
I understand companies that may have issues; but admit it and work a resolution; don't blame the customer or misdirect to installation or voltage testing. Product does not work? Replace it. Customer has documented issues from day one and is out of warranty? Replace it. I don't spend $2500 on electronics that are a known issue to go out.
Left with only a few options: Ask once more to fix it; buy Humminbird, or work towards generating a class action lawsuit.

2nd option is Best! Buy Humminbird and it will all go away. I understand your frustration and feel for you.

I feel your pain ! I am also on my 5th Ant. puck (3000 model ) - My 520 units are networked - were installed at the Ranger factory - not by someone else. I get the same run a round from Lowrance tech service as you. BUT , I had a Humminbird 1197 SI and talk about problems ! I finally got my money back on it from Humminbird and bought a HDS 10 SI unit and love it - had no problems at all with it and it REALLY shows whats under the water in unbeliveable detail on side & down scan. I think BOTH companies have a LOT TO BE DESIRED in customer service after the sale !
