Can you recommend some breathable, stocking foot, chest waders.
I plan on wading the creeks this spring/summer.

Really, if you plan on wading in Texas this summer, waders would be totally optional. It will be cut-offs temperature.
But head on over to Bass Pro or Cabelas and try some out. There are a wide variety of prices open and both of these places ought to take good care of you if you ask for advice.

In those summer months, the cool water on your naked legs will be half the reason you are out there.

I got the Dry Plus G-II Breathables from Cabelas a few months back. I have only used them a couple of times, but I've been pleased with them. I bought the stockingfoot waders, so keep in mind that you'll need some sort of wading shoe to go with them if you go that route.

You might consider waist-highs. I've been using Hodgman's "wading pants" for the past few years and I like them so much I use them for everything. They'll work especially well for what you're talking about. They go up as high as I usually want to wade anyway. I've only wanted for some chest-highs a couple times.
But any waders are going to be hot in the Texas heat.

As note to already good advise is, you will get what you pay for from when buying name brand. I would also suggest that you go name brand. Always buy 1.5 to 2 sizes bigger in wade boots. Save time and effort later Ex if you have a 10.5 foot buy a 12 wade boot. It is always harder to put those ^%$# on at water side than in the store.

Sorry, just noticed you specifically asked for chest waders. Guess I need to learn how to read.

I don't mind spending money for quality and value. So no set dollar amount.
Thanks for the advice. Looks like I should go bigger on shoe & name brand vs econo. So I'm looking at Hodges, Simms, FrogTogg, Cabelas, Orvis...any others?

I've got a set of these that have worked great for me. I've only used them a few times but haven't had any problems with them. I've fished in the middle of July in Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas. I also wore them Monday in Oklahoma on the Blue River. During the colder times I've used them I bought a pair of wader socks and have stayed pretty warm in them.

I personally prefer Simms, but have had good luck from Orvis as well.
On new wading shoes -- I would recommend that you get your waders then try different wading shoes on wearing your waders (some shops will let you bring your waders in) or they should have neoprene booties on hand that you can use to test fit.
If you fish in cold weather then be sure and try boots on wearing socks that you would wear during cold weather fishing.
Boots too loose or too tight and you will pay the price if you do much hiking.

For the wading boots, be sure to consider the newer soles that are rubber, not felt. Most of the streams you would fish are getting sensitive to this, and probably wont be long before felt soles will be a thing of the past.

Closer than we might have thought. Look at all the closeout sales in felt soled boots. Good reason too. Although they might be good enough if kept local and cleaned thoroughly (but that is the whole problem isn't it, it's too easy to forget to clean them well)
