Thanks! I will. I was wade-fishing and was a little concerned with wading to the North because of the repots of trespassing tickets and gunfire!! Can you wade to the North?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

No trespassing tickets and the gunfire is from the gun range. As the river runs North up from the bridge it starts turning more to Northwest away from the gun range. There are several spots up there that are good for wading. I look forward to showing you around next time you get a chance.

It will drive ya mad. Best way I can tell ya is...Find you a photo hosting web site. I use Flickr from Yahoo. Upload your pictures to that...then find the size you want to use....then copy the photos URL. Then paste it in your message when your ready for it. After you paste it...you have to go back and add on the end of it.

Hope this helps

If you use photobucket, after you upload there will
be several strings under your photo. The bottom string
is what you need to copy and paste here.

It is real easy.

I got a kitchen pass yesterday so I called the Sabine River autority to see if the gates were open to fish. The gates were open. I got there at 4 pm. In just the second cast had my first striper. I did not take pics of all the fish as I was too busy pulling in fish and the sun was going down . The bite ended at dark .I caught 18 nice stripers, everyone on a fluke with no weight. Kept my five and headed to the house. I was the only person at the river.I cant wait for another pass. Anothe week and the top water bite will be in full swing on top (main lake). If you have not experience a ten to 20 pounder hitting your top water at nite you are missing out. I wish the place wasnt so dang far or I would be spending a heck of more time there

Yes, the Neches has been very productive lately. The cars are lined up at the bridge all day everyday. Yesterday I took the day off from fishing and started getting caught up on some things around the house that need attending to. Good to hear all the good reports.

hRt, we'll need to repeat this weekend's performance again next weekend. I'll be available to fish later Sat. afternoon (depending on how tired I am from work) and again on Sunday if like Gres, I can get a house pass....

Later.

First time poster here. I found this forum while searching for info on the Neches river conditions for this year. Great resource! I've been fishing the Neches for around 5 years with a friend who has been fishing it for 20 years. We walk in North of the 31 bridge, and generally walk several miles back in (past all the pastures and such) to fish the upper holes that aren't very busy. This year has been pretty good so far, although the water level is down quite a bit as of today.

First trip was last weekend we fished on the evening of the 7th and during the day on the 8th. Sunday was slow (15 Sandies), but Monday we cleaned our limit of 50 sandies, probably caught 75 or so. Most were very large, with a couple of small Hybrids mixed in. Largest Sand Bass was 17 1/2.

We just returned from fishing Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Monday was great, with over 40 fish cleaned. Tuesday was a bit slower and the fish were smaller with 35 cleaned. Today was lots slower, but we still caught 40 (didn't keep any today).

Typically we use a jig head with a tube, and that works pretty well. This week, I switched to a road runner with a different type of tube, and it worked very well. I pulled a lot of fish out of the current with it, which was kind of surprising to me.

James
