Is it loaded down or empty? What tire pressure are you running? My company E250 tire pressure rated loaded 65 front and 80 in the rear. Mine is nowhere near loaded so I adjusted the pressure down to 60 all the way around and it doesn't jar the teeth out of my head anymore. But there are still heavy duty load range E tires and they are pretty hard anyway just watch how the tread is wearing. If the ouside edges are wearing more than the middle then your pressure is to low consequently if the middle is wearing more than the outside then pressure is to high. Not much else you can do it's a heavy duty vehicle.

+1 on reducing air pressure. 97 ford is right on, I might even go lower.

Dude I had the same truck with the same motor and everything. I hated it. The road to my shop has alot of potholes. Everytime I hit one I wanted punch the dash it was so rough. I tried everything. I only had it 6 months and sold it. I like it other than that. I dont know what to tell you that can help though. Let me know if you find something that works but I feel ya and know exactly what its like.

the tire pressure might help but the biggest reason it rides rough is because it is a 3/4 ton pickup. When you move up from a 1/2 ton to a 3/4 or 1 ton truck, the ride is rougher because the 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks have a more rigid frame with more weight, especially with a 4x4 model.

My F150 rides like a 4 door Cadillac over holes and bumps but my buddies 2500 chevy duramax 4x4 and my brother in laws 2500 Dodge ram 4x4 both ride way rougher.
Its just one of the sacrifices you have by having a 3/4 truck. It doesnt matter what brand they are all the same.

Check your shocks. I changed my truck over to Bilstein's at 30 thousand and the ride was noticeably better.

decreasing the tire pressure helped a little, but its still rough. i doubt shocks would help, i wonder if aftermarket springs would make it smoother???

maybe i could talk the boss into a lift kit with some new springs.....

I don't think a lift kit is going to improve the ride really. At least it hasn't on any of the Jeeps I've been in. If your boss is anything like mine (the owner of our company) you might have better luck squeezing the horns off of a buffalo nickle.

A lift kit is not gonna make any truck ride smoother. Everyone i have ever been in rode way worse after the lift was done.
